Nobody talks much about Escape Plan, but if there's a site on the web discussing it on, it would be here. I bought the sequel, and before I watch it, I rewatched the original as I haven't watched it since it came out. Here's the review I wrote after rewatching it:
"It is not a great movie really, but how can anyone not be entertained by this? It is Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone starring in the same movie! Schwarzenegger has some seriously funny moments, he is fantastic in this. Sylvester plays the straight man most of the time, but he has his moments as well. The action scenes are bad. It is just cut together awfully and shaky as hell. Still, I would say they nail the setting of breaking out of an unknown prison. It is cool that we gradually get to know more about it as the film progresses. Even though the villain is lacking, I would say that the film centers around the two leads snd the prison itself, which I think it does a fairly good job at. Still enjoyable after my second watch." 3.5/5

Arnold and Stallone may get physically old, but seeing them in movies will never get old, they could be 90, and still make any movie look cool.

These I have not seen, because I am afraid their age will ruin it for me. The cut up action scenes explained by Balder further my thought process on that. I love these two guys, but I wish they would follow the path of Sean Connery as he aged. Make movies, but remember your age. Then you will go gracefully. |

It sucks seeing them get older and not doing impressive stuff anymore, but in a way they are both action superstars in a way Sean Connery never was, all they know is how to make action movies, and they will live and die by that. That said, Rocky Balboa (VI) has shown us that there still is a lot left in Stallone. He actually boxed and took quite a lot of real hits in that match against Mason Dixon. He was at one point knocked out for real by a real professional boxer. I want to go back and rewatch Rocky Balboa now, the best possible ending to the Rocky Saga, no doubt. |

Anyway, I haven't gotten around to this, but all I need to know is that it stars both Stallone and Arnold, which is all I need to know that its a 5/5 movie. Good choice Balder. |
