ModdedCentipede try to get these titles right. It's Spider-Man, not Spiderman. Anyways, I watched this back when it was in the cinema. Fantastic movie. Here's my review that I wrote then: "The hype for this movie was just unbelievable. Before it came out in the theaters it was around #50 on the Letterboxd top 250 movie list. I knew for sure it was going to drop down when it hit cinemas, but no, it did the exact opposite. Now it is #6, and I knew for a fact that there had some truth to its insane ratings. When I watched the trailer for it, I was quite skeptical of the animation style. I did not know I would get used to the choppy framerate and imperfect animation. It took me about 10 seconds of watching the movie before I fully adopted this style and loved it. It really does look like a comic book in the best possible way. This is not a gimmick like Hardcore Henry, this is seriously something I could watch for an extended period of time. The first 30 minutes of the movie had me unconvinced that this deserved the hype. Sure it was good and all, but it takes a safe route introducing our characters, and even though the story is nothing special or unique, it gets the job done. However, the movie itself just gets better and better for every minute. By the end of it, I was convinced that this is more than just another superhero movie. My favorite things in this movie are its characters and and visuals. The visuals are truly stunning, and the third act are beyond great. It is no longer a flashy superhero movie, it is downright an art house quality movie. The use of colors and animation is stunning. As for the characters, what a fantastic assortment. I love how Sony for fucking once gathers its balls to give us something risky and unsafe. They give us a weird gang of characters that feel unique. The mashup of these different style of characters could go terribly wrong, but they did not. Noir Spider-Man was my favorite, and I am so glad it was voiced by Nicolas Cage, who is a big fan of superhero comics. What is so special with this movie is that it transcends the superhero genre in many ways. The hype is real, but I do not think it deserves to be in the top ten of all movies ever made. Still, it does deserve to exist high in the Letterboxd top 250 list, because this might be the best movie of 2018 (this is until I watch Roma, which might still beat it). Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not just maybe the best superhero film of all time, but maybe also the best animated film of all time. I originally had no hope for this movie due to the fact Sony was making it with their abysmal track record and also that it had more than one director. But it pulled through, in spades." 5/5

I like the story, and my son absolutely loves this movie. (He watches it over and over again on Blu-Ray.) I don't like the animation style. I know they are going with the comic book feel, but it bothers me. The voice acting and the story line are fantastic though.

I felt asleep through this movie. But to be fair I was tired already. We stayed to watch Bumblebee after this, and I also slept through that. I tried watching it again when it come out for home view, and I did, but it didn't hold my attention. The story simply didn't attract me. It made me start noticing other things, like the heavy judder, and how some character models appeared lazy. Not a good movie. I definitely do not recommend it. Balder Roma has amazing cinematography, the sound is beyond incredible, but the movie is not good at all. It is a good example of how you can put really stellar cinematography, one scene after the other, and still fail miserable at making a good movie. To be fair the movie is based on real life, and some people's real life stories aren't just that exciting.

I was so disappointed because Cuaron has made so many great films, and why he couldn't write an interesting story is beyond me.

He did an amazing job with the sound, and the cinematography though. Those one single shot scenes with the moving camera are incredible.

Yes it was a very personal movie, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. Still, on a technical level it is one of the best movies ever made. It is the perfect evolution of Children of Men, but unfortunately it was a much worse film overall when compared to Children of Men.

It is the perfect evolution of Children of Men, but unfortunately it was a much worse film overall when compared to Children of Men. The thing is that it was based on his own life, so he cannot change the story, or add to it to make it fun if he wants to have an accurate representation, so because of that his hands are tied there. I'm impressed you are capable of appreciating the technical aspects of that movie though, that alone speaks good about yourself, not many can see those things. On the other hand if I remember correctly you're among the people that liked Jeff Bridges on The Big Lebowski, so I guess we cannot be all good. We all have our own imperfections. For example I know I should dislike Disney Star Wars movies, but I don't. I even consider Rogue One a good Star Wars movie. I also know Disney's MCU is not that special, but I still like all those movies.
