And why the hell wouldn't there be? Don't people plant new trees to regrow forests? The idea is to have fewer trees cut down for paper. Simple economics: company that produces paper or 2X4's needs to have the product to do so. If they just use recycled items, they have no reason to plant more trees for their product; they just reuse what is already processed. If they don't recycle, then they better damn well plant more trees to keep their business intact.
Same reason that we will never run out of chickens or cows. Those are eaten/used by a LOT of people. Black Rhinos, tigers, etc... not so much.
All right, reusing the old stuff gives them less incentive to regenerate those areas cut down. But surely, someone is planting new trees to be cut down in the future, right?

If this book is so important and people need to read it, why isn't it available for free for all to read online? I can only find copies to purchase. I guess money matters just a taaaaaad bit more to ol' Lois than whatever's up with rainforests these days. Have you tried your local library? I've only read through it once and it was a rental from my town's library. It does seem to be an obscure book, as there was only one image of the edition I read on google images (at least in the top results), which is a shame. But then, when has the abundance of something every been an accurate indication of its quality? Don't be discouraged, buy a copy if you find one reasonably priced.
