Did he really sold all his game collection? That sounds awful, and great at the same time, as that is an impressive collection. Most of what I found on what happened (As you would need THREE dfferent subscriptions to THREE different services hosted separately in order to get the full picture) comes from the CGR reddit, you can find someone asking about Mark selling his collection here: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicgameroom/comments/bfi5rx/mark_selling_his_game_collection_is_cgr_done_for/ It seems like he is slowly dribbling his collection onto ebay: at the moment of this writing he is currently trying to sell Typying of the dead for the dreamcast, FEAR for PS3, Yakuza Dead Souls for the PS3. Chache'd google searches also suggest he is selling in other places such as amazon, usedforsale, craigslist and easyprice. So, yeah. I think it's fair to say he is pretty much done with videogames. |

Guilion it is also possible he is selling extra copies, considering how often he will have multiple copies of the same game. Also I'm sure there are some games he probably doesn't care as much of. I'm sure Fear qualifies as one of those. If he is selling big arcade machines then that's probably a space thing, honestly he did have a lot of those.

I feel it's weird that he's selling games and is profiting of them from donations. It sort of feels shitty towards those who donated them and wanted them reviewed.

stratogustav - He has been selling some games from newer generations, double copies and some of the things that obviously take a lot of space (like some of the arcade machines). On Patreon, I remember he said once that he wasn't selling donated games (which must be the bulk of CGR's collection) and, supposedly, most of his classic games. Even though Mark hasn't produced videos in a while, video games are still closely related to his book publishing work - just last month he released a Vectrex guide, so I don't think he will sell most of his collection yet.

Mark doesn't realize that giving bad news is not good for the business. He gave too many bad news, and people will inevitably stop liking him even if he was not the cause of those bad news.
What he said about how they did everything they could to cover the games is indeed true. The hard work these guys put into those reviews is indeed spectacular. No one can review that many games with that little time and that much care for editing and composition, specially considering the limited tools of the time.

And I have stuff I was going to mail him. Great, what am I going to do with that box then? It's got games for systems I don't own, like a Mega CD. I was also doing an A4-sized painting of Stella the Viral Dog I was going to send with it..
Also, ClassicGameRoom has a fan forum on Reddit? Then why aren't we over there? What does this little pocket exist for?

We are our own thing, but we keep respect for Mark's work as he is the one that brought us into existence as a group, and we grew adjusted to that kind of pub environment he built in the first place, plus by now this forum has more classic gaming content than probably any other forum on the Internet.
