This week, the Youtube content creator I would like to discuss with the pub is none other than WatchMojo.com, an industry giant widely known for their endless supply of top ten lists, usually about gaming, film & music.
What do you think of them as a content creator? Do you respect them? Do you hate them? Have they made any top 10 lists that you've found contentious or disagreeable?
Please discuss.

It's hard to make good lists. I would say their lists are often quite average which is pretty good considering how many bad lists there are out there. I'm sure they have big fuck ups though, but that's also normal.

Content-theft aside, Watch Mojo is just ok. They have made some good countdowns, but they have also made some real BS/pointless ones, like this one about the worst character creator systems in games:
Placing Oblivion's on the list but not the Wii's shitty Mii Maker?? In a real life conversation, this would be an "all credibility lost" scenario.
Then you have garbage/spam lists like "Top 10 mcdonalds menu items", while others are just mean spirited, like some of their celebrity related countdowns where they bash child stars like Justin Beiber, Jake Lloyd, etc. So for every good countdown that they make there seems to be at least two lousy ones.
But then there's the issue of them stealing footage from other content creators on Youtube, like CGR for example, something they still probably do. Back in their early days Watchmojo wouldn't even credit them when "borrowing" their footage. It just strikes me as extremely lazy of them and I don't think I've ever seen another Youtube channel do this shit to such an extent.
So overall Watch Mojo is very "meh" as far as I'm concerned. Their countdowns are fun to watch when I have nothing better to do, but I rarely go out of my way to watch them.

I honestly don't have much of a problem with WatchMojo. I think they're fike for the most part. Sure their list are pandering to the masses and rhey can be very cringy, but overall they do put some arguments behind their picks. I haven't watched them in years as Cinefix have replaced them in terms of movies (they make fantastic lists). I never understood why Mark got so mad at them. They didn't upload his videos, they used clips from him and credited him. He should've been thanking them if anything for bringing him traffic.

I tend to ignore them most of the time, however it really does bother me when they steal content from other creators; mostly because they target small creators rather than big ones without crediting them.

I'm pretty sure this is that channel. Because I know I've seen somw of his gameplay being used in their videos. But fuck dude, they once ranked him pretty high as one of the best classic game reviewers on YouTube.

My guess is Mark was just trying to fill in content. He probably didn't care that much, and was trying to be agreeable with a fan that actually got pissed off.

In Mark's defense, WatchMojo didn't start crediting content creators for the footage they "borrowed" until people started calling them out for it. Although these days I wouldn't support either Mark or Watch Mojo.

I think most people would probably describe his worst decisions as merely "subjectively" bad. A lot of people took issue with the way he handled his Patreon content (i.e: making the majority of content in his then-recent reviews exclusive to that site and the Youtube portions being just advertisements for said Pateron reviews). He also pissed off people who paid to listen to his podcasts by complaining excessively about his fans (reportedly) in them. I wouldn't know for sure, since I didn't finance his podcasts so I never got to listen to them. My reason for disliking Bussler is different. Please refer to this thread: classicgameroom.freeforums.net/thread/1801/deal-breaker-meI decided to look up what happened with Mark, I remember the part where he left for Patreon and posted most of his content there (Which was also the point where I stopped following him because I simply don't have the money to support anyone on Patreon) however it seems like afterwards he committed a series of mistakes, his audience started sinking rapidly and he ultimately gave up on videogames and sold his game collection. I remember when he was pretty upbeat but in one of his last videos he looks so damn tired and trying to fake his own persona. Quite a sad ending, but ultimately a part of me is glad he stopped and continued on doing his drawings and designs, which I remember were a passion of his for a while now.

Did he really sold all his game collection? That sounds awful. Although admirable, as it is hard to let go something like that.
