I've wanted to watch all of the Batman movies of the 80's/90's for quite some time now, especially since I've only seen the bad ones. So I finally to the plunge and watched the first one. This are some of my thoughts on it (from a guy that never grew up watching it):
"To think that it took me this long to watch the Batman movie that made Batman the icon he is today. Adam West's Batman is iconic in itself, however without this movie, he would never have become the sensation he is today. Batman revolutionizes the comic book movie industry by taking a darker spin on the genre, and it works perfectly for it. I love the goofiness of the 60's Batman, but this is much more cinematic and serious. That does not mean there is no room for comedy though, because this film packs a lot of humor by casting the legendary Jack Nicholson as the iconic Joker. Since many actors have gone on to portray the Joker in many iconic performances over the years (for better and for worse), I would still say Nicholson's portrayal of him is still great. He has his own unique antics that makes him worth watching. Michael Keaton's performance of Batman and Bruce Wayne is a little bit wooden and weird now after seeing Batman as something completely else over the years, but he gets the job done. After all, the Batsuit looks pretty cool and highly cinematic with that Batturn. This film is a cool little piece of film history that has a deserved place, but it falls a bit short today I think. I am sure people that watched this in their childhood will always have a special place for it, but as a movie watcher with a fresh perspective, I think it is a product of its time. The pacing is a bit sluggish and at times I feel like the film just puts in random scenes and plot points just to have more runtime. Because of this the film drags on a bit toward the third act, however the finale is a lot of fun. I am glad that this movie exists because the genre has a lot to thank it for. Good movie, but far from perfect." 3.5/5 Iconic

...the finale is a lot of fun. I always loved the fight scenes at the end. It reminded me of a video game as the difficulty level increased for Batman. I guess this made it easy for the SunSoft developers of the NES game.

Yeah, the SunSoft Batman game on the NES is truly remarkable, probably the best Batman game ever made, it definitely beats the Arkham ones.
What made those games special was the learning curve. How you suck at the beginning, and become a master afterwards. That feeling is unmatchable in modern titles.
Unless From Software makes some kind of Batman game, it would be very hard to dethrone the NES one.

One of my best friends have always raved about the Arkham games, and they look very enjoyable. I'll pick up the remaster if I ever come across one cheaply.

Balder - I loved Arkham Asylum, but I thought City was kind of a letdown - the openworld led to things that I hate about openworld games, mostly a less focused approach to the main story and too much time just navigating through the city. It was still a very good game, just not my thing. dschult3, I'm with stratogustav on this one: the NES entry is still the best! Asylum is pretty close, though. All this talk is making me want to play all those Batman games again! By the way, is Arkham Origins any good? It seems to be the black sheep in the series, besides the bad pc port of Arkham Knight.

I guess this made it easy for the SunSoft developers of the NES game. He is even climbing a tower, which is how a lot of games structure their final levels. The Batplane part also seems tailored to be turned into a shmup level, and indeed they made one for the Sega Genesis game. The movie does have a game feel to it, similar to Aliens.

Arkham City on the Wii U was chalk full of things to do. I couldn't put it down for months! scipioafricanus got me hooked on it, and I'm glad I got the definitive edition. Using the Wii U pad added to the fluidity of the combat, and if you were used to using it, you wouldn't have to switch to an options screen to slow down the fighting. I was EXTREMELY annoyed at the fact that they didn't use the Wii U game pad for Origins.
I loved Origins too, but it was soooooooooooooooooooo buggy in the end. I played it for hours on end, and I loved everything about it. The fight with Deadshot is almost impossible, unless you look how to do it online. Not too long later, the damn game wouldn't render fast enough if you had the boosters on Batman's boots. Using them would make you fly through the city too fast on just about every system I have seen. Gotham would turn into a partial wire frame, and that would mess up battles with the baddies if you were trying to shock them through speedy stealth. I remember getting stuck and getting killed without understanding what the hell happened a few times. It was a shame too, because the game was good. Hopefully they can remake this as a collection and fix the bugs. I don't have faith in WB Games (Do they even exist anymore?), since they knew what the problems were at the time, yet they refused to patch them. But hey, at least it wasn't like the PC fiasco.

dschult3 - It's really a shame that such an important series was damaged by buggy releases, that was the reason I never even tried Arkham Knight (as I only could play it on pc). But considering the great track record of Batman games, maybe we'll get a new series down the line. Though I don't even know which company has the license right now.

The Arkham games are all pretty solid. Rocksteady is not a bad developer. Even Origins didn't seem bad at all, at least what I played of it
Because I have only played a little bit of each, I still want to complete them all at some point.
