From IMDB: On the interviews and audio commentary for the Batman & Robin (1997) 2-Disc Special Edition DVD released in 2005, he says that he was under pressure from toy companies and Warner Brothers management to deliver a family-friendly film and admits he went too far in that direction, but takes full responsibility for the end result and, at one point during the interviews, flat-out apologizes to fans that were disappointed.

Alicia Silverstone was a total hottie. She was kind of average, but her mannerisms really made her stand out, specially in Clueless, but I also like her in Blast From The Past.
She really sums up the 90s very well for me, along with pretty much all the Aerosmith ballads, and some of the Brian May, and Bon Jovi 90's stuff.
Uma Thurman is perfect for Poison Ivy, she even has the proper look. They definitely couldn't do better there.
This movie is purposely a camp, so it has the potential to be a 5 out of 5, but there are better camps out there, particularly Japanese camps.
Also it is hard to want another camp from Batman, specially after Tim Burton's movies, so all of that takes out many points from it and brings it down for me pretty much half, like 2.5 out of 5.
George Clooney is great for a Batman camp, but he could never be a proper formal Batman. Unlike Val Kilmer who could easily make a serious Batman, but failed because of the direction, and writing of Forever.
I still think I could enjoy the movie though. I definitely need to watch it again. It is hard to rate negatively any movie with Arnold in it, Arnold can make anything 5 out of 5, although I remember they didn't focus on him as much as we would have liked, even when he was the main villain.

I hate this movie with a passion, and I think all of the actors hate it as well. Hell, I remember when George Clooney made an apology after ruining the Batman series for a decade. Uma Thurman was annoying to me, and Alicia Silverstone's career seems to have taken a turn for the worse after this film was made. Arnold is the man, and he deserved so much better than the role he got here. Mr. Freeze has an incredibly tragic story, and the campy style really ruined it. Batman The Animated Series did the story much more justice. Don't forget the late, great Michael Ansara did his voice, and his storied career culminated with this iconic role.
I could deal with the campiness in the last film. This one killed it for me and most of the DC fans. (Kind of what is going on right now. Huh...)

Watched this back in elementary school. Even back then I thought it was overly goofy. I blame this and Batman Forever for me not wanting to watch Batman: The Dark Knight when it first came out. I didn't watch The Dark Knight until 2011.

I didn't watch The Dark Knight until 2011. That's so sad. I went to see The Dark Knight at theaters, and it was a great experience with all the people getting massively wowed at the same time, in every scene. I remember seeing life size cardboard cutouts of Heath Ledger on his Joker role while coming in the theater, and his look was so impressive. However the be fair I missed Batman Begins on theaters. If I saw it on theaters I don't even remember.

I rewatched this today and it was so much worse than I thought it was going to be. It wasn't even funny bad. Here's my review of this piece of shit:
"Oh boy, after rewatching Batman Forever I thought I had hit rock bottom, and while it technically was rock bottom, I was sure it could only go upwards from there. This is the Batman movie I remember the least of, and for good reason. It sucks. Just through and through this movie is absolutely god damn awful. Just pure fucking shit. I think Batman Forever had worse moments as I cannot stand Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones as the villains in that movie, but this movie tortures me slowly over time with its general approach to ridicule the Batman brand and the whole superhero genre with it. This has to have been the lowest point in superhero movies. The genre must have been a laughing stock at this point in time. I had a hope that Schwarzenegger would redeem some of the film, and while he is kind funny at times, all of his personality is reduced to a poor parody of spewing out shitty word plays arter word plays, pathetic. Poison Ivy is super boring and I honestly feel bad for Bane, who is utterly reduced to a degenerate. George Clooney as Batman is actually not that horrible. He is boring, but Batman as a character in this movie has so little impact that there was not anything for Clooney to ruin in my opinion. The story is a complete mess as there are so many pointless side plots and characters. It is like the fimmakers knew this was going to be the coffin of the superhero genre for a while. The writing was on the wall, let us just every character and storylines so that we at least got to use them. The tone of the film sucks and it has zero charm. Towards the middle to the end I was just waiting for it to be over. This and Batman Forever belong in the trash." 0.5/5

It's no wonder I scoffed at people who told me to watch The Dark Knight after I had watched all of these terrible superhero movies.
