I was asked if i liked anime over the original manga that it's based on which got me thinking. The answer is the original manga. I am a huge fan of One Piece but don't like the anime at all. But that got me thinking, there's a few movies I like over the manga.
First is Akira which is my favourite movie of all time which i like the movie way more than the manga. The movie is a more of an art piece rather than a animated translation of the comic book it's based on. The visuals and soundtrack create an atmosphere that is amazing and unique.
The second is Ghost in the Shell. Now i'm not a fan of the franchise for I find the whole Blade Runner "what does it mean to be human" thing a little boring, But the original 95 movie is one of my favourite anime's of all time and think it's far superior to the manga.
Crying Freeman. I like the anime a lot more because i f ind it to be better balanced. The manga just seems to be a bit too much on the hentai side.
What do you guys think?. Is there any anime you prefer over the manga?.

All of them because I don't read Mangas, but I hear Mangas tend to be better for the most part.

For me it's all about the hand drawn art of Japanese artists being far superior to the cheap looking animations of the anime. And the cheesy japanese soundtracks they add doesn't help either

Berserk. I like the manga but I love the original anime series. That's a good one, ACR. I've read a few issues of the manga but never watched the anime. But the manga is pretty good.

I have a really hard time deciding whether I like the DBZ anime or manga better. The manga is much faster paced, has more consistent (and usually better) art quality, and feels more focused and coherent than the anime overall.
Despite the snails pace that the anime moves at, and some of the dumb and sometimes contradictory filler it's produced, there's still so much good stuff that the anime adaption gave us. It wasn't until Kai came out and took out most of that good stuff that I realized how much it improved the overall experience for me.

It wasn't until Kai came out and took out most of that good stuff that I realized how much it improved the overall experience for me. I feel a lot of the things that make these Anime shows stand out is their background music. The original background music of shows like Knights Of The Zodiac, and Dragon Ball Z is beyond incredible. I tried watching versions of Knights Of The Zodiac without their original background music, and all the emotions from the show are gone all of the sudden. The music is so key that it makes all the difference in the world. Imagine watching the Star Wars movies without John Williams and putting stock music instead. That's exactly what it does changing the original music for Anime shows. This is why I was so pleased when I saw that Netflix are redoing the entire dub for the original Saint Seiya, keeping the original background music this time, and releasing the show in parts while they dub it entirely. Unlike the early 2000s dub that was beyond garbage, and was cancelled for that reason, or their new CGI remake that uses some kind of stock music. This new English dub for the original series is actually decent because it keeps the original background music, and the background music, just like with Star Wars, is like 80% of the show. Even if English isn't a Romantic language like Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, or French (which is where the show succeeded, or in places like Greece), the music is still a Universal language that can easily convey those different emotions in any language, and that's why keeping it is so important.
