Bogard - I'm not watching any currently, though I do have a great appreciation for late 80s/90s anime films (the usual suspects: Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, GUNNM/Battle Angel Alita etc.), all the Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli stuff (especially Nausicäa and Spirited Away) and the stuff directed by Satoshi Kon (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, Millenium Actress, Paranoia Agent etc.) As for anime shows, I grew up watching Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac and the original Dragon Ball (DBZ is also ok, though a step down). Later on, I really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop (still my favourite anime show), Evangelion, Death Note, Gantz (a very flawed gem) and some others. Nowadays, I'll watch a movie every now and then; the latest one was Modest Heroes, which was a pretty good one (and I also rewatched recently Memories, which is just a classic). For shows, I finished the second season of Attack on Titan and will watch the third one soon, it's a pretty good show, one of the few modern ones that I find enjoyable; I also finally watched Record of Lodoss War a few months ago, which I loved - though I have only watched the OVAs, not the follow-up series yet. I wish I had more time to pick up on stuff like all the Ghost in the Shell shows, some current shows like One Punch Man and all the Ghibli movies that I haven't watched yet.

Mobile Suit Gundam is my favorite series, but Ghost in the Shell is also pretty good. Of course movies from Studio Ghibli is always worth watching too.

Got some Ghost In The Shell, but I don't know of any anime series that would appeal to me. I'm open to suggestions, though.
So much anime these days are about teenagers still in school having extraordinary adventures. The sad truth, I've heard, is because it's the last years of relative freedom they have before a life of being a slave to the system.

Haha, it's like people want to feel free again by watching those shows that remind them when they were younger, and back in school. Two relatively close friends of mine all they do is watch Harem Anime, and they are both married with kids.

I'm really picky and arbitrary about what anime I like. I dislike most of it but some few I've loved for years.
It's been like that with anime for a long time now. I'll never know the real reason as to why so many revolve around high-schoolers, but I can only assume it's some sort of combination of marketing and nostalgia.
