In the spirit of Australia Day and this really horrible first month of the year, I feel like this is kinda appropriate. Then, next week, we can get one of cobretti 's suggestions, then maybe some horrors left over from Halloween. Year: 1979 Chosen by: centipedeStarring: Mel Gibson, Joanne Samuel Directed by: George Miller Written by: James McCausland, George Miller, Byron Kennedy Produced by: Byron Kennedy, Bill Miller

Mad Max is awesome, abd the first movie is very fun, but definitely not the best movie in the franchise. This is my ranking: Fury Road >> The Road Warrior > Mad Max >> Beyond Thunderdome.
Here's a review I wrote on this movie from when I rewatched it in 2017: "I love the Mad Max series. I also think it is very interesting how different the first movie is compared to the rest of them. It suffers a little for being so low budget and old, but it has lots of charm and uniqueness. The Special Pursuit Intercepter is my favorite fictional car ever. It looks so badass! I think it is very underrated for what it is. It gives us Max' backstory and how he delves into becoming Mad Max, which I think is its strongest point. Also, the gang of psychopaths are hilarious. I will always look at the sky and think of the Nightrider!" 3.5/5

I love this one infinite times more than the new one. There is something about the movies made those days that it is very unique and feels very artistic. The new one didn't do it for me, it felt like a cyberpunk game, not a movie, although I do like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Don't watch the dubbed version. Yeah, what's the deal with that anyways, why dub Australian English to American English? The first time I watched this I watched the dubbed version until the 15 last minutes. The dialogue was awful.

Oooooh, that makes so much more sense. I was a bit perplexed by the decision as well.

I streamed this recently, and I still like it. It has that 70s flair for action movies, and it holds up.
