Everyone loved Daft Punk at the time, so I'm pretty sure this movie was well received. Thanks for sharing the link, I feel the music is already a good enough reason to watch it.

Wow this was so much better than I had originally thought. Here's my review of it:
"Now this is an awesome movie. An hour of watching a weird movie about a cult abducting aliens to make music for them for some kind of ritual is awesome in itself, but when it is based on a fantastic music album which it is paired by, it goes over the top for me. This is an experience. I thought Daft Punk was alright prior this as I had only listened to some of their mainstream songs like Get Lucky, but this album is a hundred times better, like this is seriously fantastic. I now want to listen to and get to know Daft Punk. The animation is lovely as most great 2D animation is, and the film is cool in itself, but the music just elevates it to perfection. Besides Pink Floyd's The Wall, I think this is the best music movie I have watched. This is what CGR recommendations should be all about." 5/5
I actually think this might be my favorite movie that the pub has recommended to me.
Also, I've edited my previous post, and I've linked a much better version of the movie there. This one is in HD, which is a must for this kind of movies.

Nah, he just doesn't want to admit it was Commando. I don't count Commando as one of those recommendations because I was going to watch Commando regardless of the pub discussing it. |

That was quite the western ending. A couple of years ago I was discussing their longevity with some friends. I think a lot of their longevity had to do with their masks. In the pop world you usually have to remain young forever, so pop stars seem to disappear once they hit their 30s. These guys lasted for what seemed like eternity. I am a bit sad that they're calling it quits, but this is the best way to do it.

They aren't going to release an album if it's not going to be perfect. They weren't in the game because of the fame nor the money, just the music mattered to them. This is why they released so few and far between, and what probably happened in these years of absence is that they didn't make anything they were happy and then instead of leaving room for speculation, they left it. I'm quite sad that we're not getting another album, however, leaving their legacy with R.A.M. is a hell of a way to go as it perhaps the best final album of any artist ever. On a side note, these guys were going to score Dario Argento's new movie. I wonder what's going to happen to that. Argento is dying for a comeback and Daft Punk could do it for him. |

I never knew they were around for that long. Tron 2 soundtrack was good. The movie is just average, but I really like it due to the soundtrack and visuals. Their music made a huge difference there. |
