This movie is on Netflix (US)) and I highly recommend people to watch this one. I watched it with my dad back when I requested this to be discussed (which was back in August). Anyways, here is my review from then:
"Hell or High Water is a simple, but fantastic film. It is just a story about two brothers trying to save their farm by paying back the bank, but the execution and the subtext elevates this movie to another level. In the same way as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hell or High Water also tells its story through the background; people auctioning of their houses, common people struggling to pay rent, rural businesses closing down shop, history repeating just like what happened to the Indians. All of these seemingly small incidents builds up a huge theme about unfairness, capitalism and imperialism. Setting it in rural America also solidifies the whole concept. It is not a pretty picture; it is gritty, pulls no punches and relies on no cheap tricks. The cinematography on the other hand is downright beautiful, and the way that the director holds his shots for just a little bit longer makes this a thrilling experience. It also helps that Jeff Bridges has an awesome performance, which is commendable because playing an unique old sheriff is so hard these days since that role is so overused. I thought this movie was going to be good, but I had no idea it would be this good. It makes me want to travel the rural roads and towns of America." 4.5/5
Looking forward to see what other people think about this one.

I believe you the movie is great, I just can't watch that dude. After The Big Lebowski it was enough for me.
I really had big expectations, and I end up disgusted. I'm not going through that again. He is just not a very good actor, and ruins perfectly fine movies.
All those movies he is in would have been perfect if they would have put Kurt Russell instead.
This is why I can't watch any of his movies because the whole time I would be screaming at my projector screen that I want to see Kurt Russell instead. Plus I'm running out of glass, I don't want to break more.
I have the same issues with Julianne Moore. Don Job was a fine movie, but she ruins it. It is just very painful to watch these actors.
I love your other suggestions, just not this. You know who is a good actor, John Goodman, that's a good actor, that I can watch.

Perfect for the time.

I forget, have you watched Tron? Jeff Bridges is good in that. Perfect for the time. I have not, which is a sin because I love the games. The issue with him is that he is always in good movies, it is just him that isn't good, but maybe when he was younger he was better, I just don't want to take the risk. I like to think Tron was a good movie. However I heard he doesn't have facial hair in that one, maybe he can act better that way. I may actually check it out after all.

I found the ending a bit dubious. I personally wouldn't have trusted that sheriff.
