Has anyone purchased an Everdrive or an equivalent SD Cartridge for any system? Now that I have a working NES, I would LOVE to buy games for it, but the current market is stupid high. I'm considering a purchase of the Everdrive N8 Pro, but it is rather expensive. It is well over $100 currently. I really don't know if another brand would work just the same at a cheaper price, but I'd love to hear about your experiences with them.

I personally would get an EverDrive. It is cooler to have individual copies because that's the authentic experience.
Nothing beats the feeling of putting the cartridge in, and play, having the original artwork, and knowing you aren't emulating any pixels, or sound.
Luckily, you can still get some of the most popular games because they were printed more, and for the most part those are the ones you want.
Howevet even then, it is very expensive to have a decent collection, specially at this point in time. So going for the EverDrive is a great economic solution.
You are saving money, space, and also you are still using the original controllers with the original hardware which also gives you that original experience.
In the case of the NES once the cartridge is in, you can't even see it, and unless you have a keen eye for pixel imperfections, you won't even notice a difference.

I remember how cheap NES games were at FunCo Land at the end of the Super Nintendo era and into the N64 era. Games could be bought by the bundle for $10. I always dreamed of going out hunting in the wild to create a collection with my son. That was my plan when he was born. A couple of years ago, I started to look at the prices, and it just boggles my mind. I never really thought NES games would become the source for someone's retirement plan. I don't really want an EverDrive, but I guess it is the next best thing.

Or you ans your family could just you know... not eat for a week or two, then maybe you could afford some of the good games for the system. This is the main reason why I never got into collecting Nintendo games. The aftermarket for Nintendo stuff is outrageous, especially since a lot of other systems have a lot to offer much cheaper.

I never really paid any mind to the market until I said that we were going to hunt for them at flea markets and classified ads. Ha! How stupid was I? One of my brothers bought a bunch of games during the cheap years, and he has a few gems. He even has a Power Glove! I really thought it would be a fun thing for my son and I to do. I just don't know why people thought you could bank on your retirement on a video game collection. I feel like the market is going to drop like a rock when this generation starts to die off. Here in the US, the WW II generation and the early Baby Boomers collected Elvis memorabilia, silverware, giant furniture, and porcelain figurines. Once they started to pass, the market was flooded with that stuff, and no one wants it. My son won't be a kid anymore when this market falls apart, so this will have to due.

Yeah, I remember when NES games were cheap. I'm happy with my NES Classic, but if they would start printing NES games again it would be a good thing because I still believe it is the best system of all time, and that's coming from someone that has zero nostalgia for it.

Apparently the guy who makes them, Krikzz, is a Ukrainian, and his store is out of that country. The guy is living through hell now.

I had no idea. I saw Ray Dalio's most recent interview and things don't look well on many places. Hopefully we will figure out a way to overcome those difficulties.

I have a DSTwo micro SD cartridge for the DS. Picked it up years ago, and I believe at the time it was the best DS card of that type because it included an extra onboard processor.
Setup was pretty seamless, though it had to have a firmware update before it would run in my 3DS. DS game files play flawlessly. I believe the extra processor mostly helped for running other emulators. The GBA was nice, and that's how I played Mother 3. Mixed results on other emulators for it, and the DS screen ratio didn't work with non-portable older stuff without stretching or cutting things off.
Only other downside is because of its extra processor (I think), my 3DS would drain power much, much more quickly in sleep mode, so leaving the DSTwo cartridge in there as a convenience wasn't really an option.
These days I use Twilight Menu on the 3DS itself for most DS games, since my 3DS is soft-modded, though I've found a few DS games that don't work so well, so it is nice to have the DSTwo as an option. Currently, it has been lent to a friend who wanted to play fan patches of the NES and SNES Megami Tensei games, but didn't want to soft-mod his own systems, or mess around with emulators on his PC.

This looks awesome, but of course, it isn't cheap.

Apparently these are extremely cheap to get. I never had a DS or 3DS, so I haven't messed around with one. Anyone here have one?
