I don't know. There was a lot of bad disco music in the latter half of the decade. True, but with the right crowd, environment, and equipment, you can definitely make those disco tunes sound outstanding. Donna Summer is basically the early version of anything EDM right now. I feel a big chunk of what made the later half of the decade amazing was ABBA, ELO, Bee Gees, and the music the Bee Gees made for various artists. If you take those away, then yeah, the later half of the decade can definitely lack. They also had Fleetwood Mac, and particularly Supertramp that was pretty great. In terms of 70s in general though, the best type of music was Soft Rock, the amount of gems in the genre is of incredible heights when it comes to quality.
