I have a friend that wants a plug and play Atari, with loaded games, and he wants to be able to plug it to his HDTV.
I know there are multiple versions of Atari Flashback that he can buy, and those were the first ones that came to mind when he asked me.
But I also know that some are better than others, in fact, I heard some older ones are better than some newer ones, and vice versa.
Since I don't have a lot of experience with the flashbacks I was wondering which ones have a better reception.
He grew up playing on the 2nd gen, and was very good at Scramble, Defender, Centipide, Asteroids, Millipede, Stargate, Missile Command, Galaxian, Pole Position, Rally-X, Gravitar, Space Invaders, Gyruss, Crystal Castles, Moon Patrol, Phoenix, Galaga, Lunar Lander, Tempest, Breakout, Blaster, Joust, Pong, Berserk, Sinistar, Frenzy, Super Cobra, and Frogger.
If you guys have any suggestions I welcome them because he definitely wants something for this quarantine, and I didn't want to give him the wrong recommendation.

I don't have one, but I do know that the engineers for the 2nd edition snuck in the wiring so you could add a cartridge slot. A lot of people have modded that one, because it is actual hardware. It isn't emulation. That edition isn't an HDMI version though: not that it is needed. A lot of people love the 8 and 9 Gold editions. I heard there were SD card issues with 8, but I heard it was patched. MANY people love the 10th edition, but the SD card was left out. Your friend could always make a decision based off of his needs.

Thank you for the help. A few years ago he had an actual 2600 with a lot of games and he gave it all away to a thrift store. I told him to keep it, but he wanted to give it away, now he wants to play again, he misses it. I send him a link for 8 Gold, and 9 Gold. Since you said the 10 Gold doesn't have the SD card I decided not to send him that one.

Cool Let us know what he gets. Better yet, have him join the forum! I asked him and he hasn't get it yet. I guess I could invite him to join the forums, but he never owned any system other than his 2600. He isn't very good when it comes to computers either. However he has no much going on right now, so he should have plenty of time to figure it out.
