She'll be getting a so called Pancreaticoduodenectomy, also known as a Whipple procedure. What a bad time to need surgery! But if the medical system knows what it's doing up there in Sweden, she should be okay. I can relate to having old parents with health problems. In the 00's, my dad seemed to have one health scare after another. And on my birthday last year, I had to rush my mum to hospital after she had chest trouble. It's not a nice feeling, worrying about their health all the time. Here's something: when I went in for some surgery, I had them bring me some healthy blended drinks that helped me recover. Stuff like avocado and tomato, lemon and ginger. When she's recovering, bring her some healthy stuff like that and some extra Vitamin C will help her fight off infection.Absolutely. When she was diagnosed the doctors prescribed her a big box full of different fruit mix vitamin drinks to help her body prepare for the surgery, but due to what kind of surgery this is her diet will be very specific afterwards and I'm sure they've already worked out exactly what she gets to eat and drink, the amount and how often. Due to the corona virus she'll be kept in quarantine during the entire recovery period, so I won't be able to visit her in person. She has her smartphone with her, and I think she may also bring a surf tablet, so hopefully we'll be able to video chat, voice chat or at least text chat with no problem. I'll be asking about her diet and such things then, for sure. Hold it! Those vitamin drink they supplied, where they store-bought processed? The ones I had were were fruit and veg thrown in the blender. More raw stuff and less preservatives, etc. In particular, the avocado has some good fats, Vitamin E and makes the drink a little more filling.

I don't think whether or not it has preservatives are going to make any difference here when it's in such a small time frame.

I just got off the phone with the hospital. The surgery went well and she was awake now so I got to talk to her. How's your mum now?

centipedeShe's been home for a few days now. I've been helping her a bit with shopping and other stuff. We're still waiting for some test results on if there was any spread to other organs or not, so she's not out of danger yet, but she's healing well and has been getting a little bit better every day, so it's looking positive at the moment.

I'm glad to hear she is healing well, and getting better every day, those are very good news. It's really cool you are taking care of her in this time of need. Family always comes first.

It's not very fun, is it? The 'suspense' slowly kills you.

A little update!
So while her recovery from surgery and chemo is going relatively well and it's almost over now, a few days ago she got a problem with her eye. According to the doctor it was not related to the cancer or the treatment, but she had a tear inside her left eye that caused bleeding, filling up the inside of her eyeball with small drops of blood clouding her vision, so she's almost completely blind on it until it heals. Her right eye is fine so she can still see. It's a mix of her being near-sighted and age related, they said, and they will monitor it with frequent visits to the doctor to see how it develops. Hopefully she won't need to go into surgery if it heals well, but there is a chance it can cause damage to other parts of the eye if she's unlucky.

All the best to her.
