I put together the Nintendo 64 in my son's room a while ago (He plays classic systems in between Switch time), and the N64 Rumble Pak wasn't working, even with new batteries. It turned out the controller's input was dirty, and now it works. I can't believe how strong the Rumble Pak is! I haven't used it in years. All this modern HD Rumble is cool, because it is focused based off of the direction of game play, but I like the strength behind the N64's rumble. I even forgot that intensity varied based off of the situation. So, my vote is going for the Nintendo 64.

Yes, I vote for the N64 as well. The rumble pack was glorious. PS1 had to copy a lot of things from the N64 including the thumbsticks, but it was simply not as powerful.
It seems the physical aspect of it makes a big difference. Having it outside, and how massive it is, gives it that extra strength which was great for the excellent first person shooters on the N64.
In fact, after the GameCube I stopped caring for first person shooters genre, but a big reason why I even got into the genre in the first place is because the N64, and all those features that made those games stand out.

I'd like to give a nomination to the Xbox One controller since it has the best rumble features in a modern controller. Having rumble motors in the triggers can really give a sense of action when done right. The best use of them have been in driving games as you can feel the acceleration in the acceleration button itself. I don't play a lot of driving games though, but when I played Forza 5 at release of the Xbox One, I did feel like it was truly the next generation.

Of the controllers with a single vibrator I say Dreamcast. Dual Shock and Dual Shock 2 are the best with two.

(I know a simple Google might suffice, but I only saw the packs for sale. The Dreamcast Era was a time I took off from video gaming, due to other commitments.)

Not that I know of. I only have the regular original controllers and Quantum Fighter Pads and both require Vibration Paks, neither have built in vibrators. The only other type of controller I have for Dreamcast (not counting keyboards) is a steering wheel with pedals, but I don't remember if it had vibration feedback or not, it's been far too long since I used it.

I played some N64 recently. I still believe the Rumble Pak is fantastic.
