Haven't played it but I wasn't a fan of the first one either. Thought they tried to add too much to it. Always preferred Golden eye. But then again this was back in the day. if I go back and try it now I may enjoy it.

A shame that this entry essentially killed the series.

I played the demo, and it was a massive disappointment, it didn't have that cinematic feel of the classic one.
In fact, Rare said that the reason why GoldenEye, and Perfect Dark were designed the way they did, is because they were inspired by on rail shooters such as Virtua Cop, and Time Crisis, they just adapted them into an FPS.
Well, I felt that demo didn't have that feeling.
That said, a demo doesn't mean anything. The entire game could easily be fantastic, and there is no way for me to know all of that, based on such a small sample.

By looking at that Lord Karnage footage, the game looks quite good. It makes me want to play it now. It looks like it has all the on rail shooters level design I came to love in the classics.

It looks like it has all the on rail shooters level design I came to love in the classics.Lol, nope! The level design really grew up and matured a lot in Zero. Gone are the cramped, corridor-shooter levels of the first PD and Goldeneye. The majority of Zero's levels became open-ended in nature, in some cases even pseudo open-world (a-la Halo CE), giving the player a ton of freedom to choose how to approach combat, which really adds a LOT to the replay value. I love replaying certain levels over and over, experimenting with different guns whilst taking different routes. Difficulty levels are perfectly balanced, too! In fact, I enjoy Perfect Dark Zero so much that I even prefer it to Halo 2 and 3. As far as I'm concerned it's the second greatest FPS that Microsoft ever published, despite its flaws, which is why I give it a perfect 5/5. It also holds the distinction of being tied with Battletoads Arcade for the title of my personal favorite Rare game. Shame that it never got a sequel... OH SNAP!OMG I had no idea this was announced! This has been sitting on Youtube for 7 months and I just discovered it today! Is it a trick?? It doesn't have a wikipedia page... Well, if it turns out to be real, let's just hope that the Rareware fanbrat h8ers don't ruin it for everyone like they did to Zero. Same goes for you, nintendrones. STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS ONE! Let people play it & let the hardcore gamers be the ones to judge. I usually don't post on Ballhair threads anymore owing to the fact that he's a know-nothing, talentless, butt-fuck stupid mainstream casual, but I knew this was the perfect opportunity to talk briefly about PD Z. My synopsis: it's amazing and underrated. Play it!

Less arguing, more game talk! Honestly, there's not much more raves that I could possibly give Perfect Dark Zero by this point. It has excellent graphics, excellent open-ended level design, outstanding production values, a meaty campaign, good mission variety, good stealth mechanics, good A.I., great overall audio design, excellent weapon variety, an excellent inventory management system, a great game engine, excellent optimization, very impressive on-screen enemy count, a solid framerate (especially compared to the first PD on N64, cuz that was...yikes!), an excellent multiplayer mode INCLUDING bot support, LAN support, AND online all with support for 32 FREAKING PLAYERS!!! Not to mention it rivaled Halo in its number of game modes, most of which were awesome. Of course, the game does have a few significant flaws, namely the cartoony character modeling, bad story, mediocre voice acting, bad voice casting, cheesy dialogue, bad writing, bad vehicle handling, a lack of any cheat codes, and the base game shipping with only 6 multiplayer maps. But none of those problems faze me in the least because of how truly exemplary the game is in all the areas that truly matter. All in all, Perfect Dark Zero is a near-perfect shooter and one of Microsoft's best launch titles ever. That's what I think, anyway.
