It bothers me now that I had bookmarked this movie on YouTube and now it's unavailable. Sigh... I guess I'll keep my eyes out if it pops up again.

Best for the soundtrack alone. Campy and fun. Brian Blessed is a monster in this movie along with the rest of the cast.

Borrowed this from my library and watched it, here's my review:
"So finally I have seen what this Flash Gordon is all about (at least in some sense). There are of course the old serial and comics to consume to truly get a clear picture of what is was back in the day, but watching this 80's adaptation gave me the gist of it. It is honestly quite surprising that this is from 1980 because while it certainly has some charm to it, it looks awfully dated and old. A lot of the time it looks like that of an episode from the original Star Trek. Just to think that Alien (1979) was made the year before for less than half the budget of this movie is insane to me. Where did all of the money go? Because it certainly did not go into the production design. I am sure there were some intentions of keeping it that way, but are the producers surprised this was not well received. It was released post Star Wars! The science fiction genre had become something more than B-movies now. I did enjoy what the movie turned out to be though. It is entertaining, has lots of charm and seems like a product of its time, (1930's that is). Classic science fiction that came too late." 3/5 fun.
