I watched this a couple of years ago and I was not blown away. These were my thoughts at the time:
"A mixed bag of great casting, soundtrack and charming effects, but laughably bad plot, decisions and most of all, logic. It is hard to rate this movie because it has some moments that are genuinely great, and other moments that are incredibly bad. The beginning should have been shorter and better paced. Also, Lois Lane sucked, but Otis on the other hand.... I would pack all my things and move to Otisburg in a heartbeat." 3/5
I do remember it being better though than what my review said at the time. I watched this with a large group and it was always my intention to watch the sequels, but it turns out we never got that far.

The first real high budget super hero movie that took the source materiel seriously. To this day i think it's one of the best Super hero movies of all time and the best Super man movie of all time.

I watched it as a kid in the 90s with multiple commercials, on a 24 inches CRT, and tube sound, and it is still 10 out 10.
You can't go wrong with Christopher Reeve as Superman. Seeing him fly was mind blowing.
The 70s special effects, the soundtrack, and the performances are 10 out of 10 alone. Not to mention how they were no shameless in following the original story, extra credits for that.
DC at its best.

I would pack all my things and move to Otisburg in a heartbeat." "Otisburg? OTISBURG?!" My brothers and I still quote this at random, and I doubt there are many people who would even get the reference anymore! We used to just laugh and laugh at that scene.
This movie is great. It has its issues, but I feel as though it started the superhero genre for modern films. The blue screen was primitive, but it was spectacular for the era. The sequels were quite hit and miss after this. I can't stand 2, but who could forget this?
Superman 3 was fun. It had its issues as well, but it had Richard Pryor, the legend himself. I think that is why I don't mind it as much as 2.
Superman 4 is utter trash. That movie is perfect for a Mystery Science Theater 3000 commentary.

Still the best Superman movie after all these years and one of my favorite comic book movies in general. Yes, some parts of it haven't aged well but I also have a lot of nostalgia for it.
