For outdoorsmen like me, it's no secret that insect populations are plummeting across the spectrum. National Geographic magazine published an extremely interesting article about the catastrophe a few months ago:
I have heard about this issue for over a decade now through many news articles from various other sources that I have come across in the past. Scientists have confirmed that climate change is the cause of the decline of several insect species (perhaps most infamously the monarch butterfly), and (until now) climate change has been implemented as the chief cause of the decline of over 40% of the world's insect species. But now, there seems to be some debate within the scientific community as to whether or not cellular radiation is the actual cause of insect death, as mentioned in this article I found the other day:
phys.org/news/2020-09-mobile-insects-german.html
In this article, it mentions that radio waves emitted by all forms of wireless devices (i.e. smart phones) as well as radio towers may be damaging various insect species at a biological level, impairing their ability to find food, find mates, locate prey and larvae, etc., all of which are needed for the insects' survival in the wild. Many of these insects, such as wasps and bees, are essential pollinators and without them plants and trees can't reproduce.
So, since this is a tech form, I figure I would ask: how do you guys feel about this? If this theory turns out to be true, will your attitude towards cell phones, tablets, and other wireless devices, as well as wireless networks such as the proposed up coming 5G network, change at all? Would you be willing to faze wireless devices out of your life to save the world's insect species from extinction? Please discuss.
