The news of his death really bothered me because he was literally the only sympathetic and likable main cast member of Saved by the Bell. All the others (Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, etc.) went on to become ritzy, stuck-up socialites, while poor Diamond continued to live in the shadow of their success, struggling financially and being forever ridiculed by the public as being the quintessential gawky, silver-screen nerd they remember him playing.
As an IRL nerd, I really feel that. This guy clearly struggled a lot and therefore I respect him. I didn't grow up with Saved by the Bell and never watched the series, but I can tell Dustin Diamond was a good guy.
RIP Dustin. You were the only cool one in my mind.
