I only just recently watched this because I didn't even know it existed. Glass is the final chapter of the M. Night Shamalan's super hero stories. Unbreakable was amazing and my favourite Shamala movie and probably my favourite Bruce Willis movie (Although Die Hard 2 is pretty awesome).
Glass was very entertaining and as a big fan of Unbreakable it was good to see these characters again. But it just wasn't as nearly as good as unbreakable. My main complaint is they've taken the super Hero thing a bit too literal in that in Glass the characters are meant to be actual real life super heroes. Where as in Unbreakable the whole story was about the philosophy of comic books as in the comics are based on real life events such as Spiderman's struggles at school and with girls and family issues and taking responsibilities with great power comes great responsibility. or the people that deal with prejudice for being of a different gender, race or religion like the X Men being born as mutants and so on.
Unbreakable was about a man who was trying to find his purpose in life and believed comics were a portal or documentation of an exaggeration of actual people and roles in life. Mr Glass believed his suffering from birth has lead him to have the purpose of a villain and there for he went out to look for his opposites, the people who are naturally healthy and strong and have an instinct to protect. But these people were in no way actual people with super powers. In Glass they are actual super heroes who can stick to walls and throw cars around which ruined the purpose of the first movie.
And also I didn't like that Bruce Willis was more of a side character and barley in the it and the movie wasn't even really about Mr Glass as the title suggests. It's not really about any one character as it is just the continuation of the story. The last scene was also a little rushed. But over all it was very entertaining and James McAvoy was incredible in his performance. Didn't expect there to be a sequel to Unbreakable and it didn't really need one but I'd say this was a good movie but a bad sequel.

I thought this was the most disappointing movie of the year. It could've been so good as it was supposed to be the culmination of everything Shyamalan had built with Unbreakable and Split. Instead it was half-baked, extremely poorly written and straight up a terrible movie. Here's my review from when I watched it back in early 2020:
"Shyamalan had something truly great with his Eastrail 177 film series. Unbreakable is one of the best superhero movies of all time in my opinion and Split had an amazing character and performance. To think that Shyamalan was going to combine these two movies into a joint universe was ingenius. It was such a good twist that I almost forgave him for all those other shitty movies he made. But then one dark day, he ruined it all. He took a massive (gigantic in fact) shit over the entire thing when he made Glass. I was so hyped to get a return from Mr. Glass, but Shyamalan must have forgotten the entire point of Unbreakable. Unbreakable was so suave and subtle in how it became a superhero movie. It was more about mirroring superheroes and take concepts of them to apply to the real world. It was never about copying them and saying that comic books were a conspiracy theory. This movie has some of the worst writing I have ever seen in a major movie. At first I thought it was so dumb and boring to watch this awful shrink character trying to make these quite obvious super people to think that they did not have any powers. Totally lame. But I never thought Shyamalan would go in the extreme opposite direction right after. The whole third act is a big fat joke, and it is a true testament to why Shyamalan does not have a clue on what he is doing. He ruined his magnum opus. The only redeeming quality in this movie is McAvoy's amazing performance. Shyamalan, you are the real super villain the whole time and I do not like this twist at all." 1/5

Although i don't think the movie was completely unwatchable, I certainly and completely agree that it failed terribly as a sequel to Unbreakable. I wouldn't of even minded the whole psychiatric help story if they did something entertaining with it. the whole movie just feels like it's missing a middle part. But your main complaint seems to be the same as mine in that Mr Glass and Bruce Willis were not meant to be people with actual super powers but people who found their purpose in life threw depictions of comic book characters which was the whole point of Unbreakable. And it's very frustrating considering it wasn't a different director who didn't understand unbreakable. So the question is why on earth did he film it like he had no clue.

Yeah, this project was such a blunder, which is a shame because it was destined for greatness since Unbreakable and Split are his best movies, even beating out The Sixth Sense in my opinion.

Even though I think the Sixth Sense is one of the best movies of it's kind, I certainly think Unbreakable was Shamalan's finest work.

I recently bought Split and Glass. I think I have seen Glass before on a friend's house, but I wasn't putting much attention. I haven't seen Unbreakable yet. It is the one I'm still missing. I probably should wait to get that before watching the others.

but I'd say this was a good movie but a bad sequel. I fully agree on this. I was hoping for more when the ending of Split set up for this Glass but was disappointed in it, was still a good watch though.
