I feel as though Mewtwo should have been much more formidable in the SSB games. I can understand why Sakurai didn't want him to be OP (over powered), but I think it's such a shame that Nintendo fans aren't given the Mewtwo they had always hoped for in Smash; a super fast, super heavy powerhouse of a character, like he is in the actual Pokemon games. Mewtwo is currently my main in Melee, and while I love playing as him, I still would've preferred Sakurai made him stronger. This is why I think Sakurai should have made Mewtwo a super OP secret-hidden character that would not appear on the character select screen and could only be accessed through entering a secret combination or something, like Akuma from Street Fighter 2. That way it would be ok if he was OP since tournaments would ban him anyway and since he didn't appear on the character select screen, it wouldn't be as big a deal as Metaknight was in Brawl. Then again, by this point I don't really care, since I'm not into the latest SSB games and Sm4sh isn't nearly as competitive as Melee anyways so it wouldn't matter as much.
What do you folks think? Should Mewtwo have been a secret OP god-tier character in the SSB games? Would you have been more satisfied if he had been much stronger, faster, and heavier in SSB like he is in the Pokemon universe?

Mewtwo's always been the coolest Pokemon with the best backstory and one of my favorites to play as in Smash. As cool as your idea is, it would take too much convincing to get your friends to let you play as the "god-tier character" in local matches, where all of the fun is at anyway. Nah, it's better to just have every character well balanced and more or less equal.

The lack of Konami in the game bothers me. I love all the characters they have, even Bayonetta, and Square Enix Cloud, but they should had bring back Solid Snake or at least put Frogger in there like Mark suggested, they already have Pac-Man, Sonic, and Mega Man, so someone like Simon Belmont was a no brainer.
They also need Marco Rossi from SNK, Hayabusa from Tecmo, and the lack of Ice Climbers also hurts.
Other than that, Smash 4 is a great game and very competitive too. Melee wins only for the cancelling moves. Brawl was good too but it needed more speed.
I also don't like unbalanced characters, they ruin everything. Even if Goku was there I would want him as strong as Ryu and that's it.

I honestly think the whole Hideo Kojima situation was setup drama to help him out in his future career as a thank you for everything he has done.
But then I could be very wrong because Nobuya Nakasato and Koji Igarashi did not received the same treatment.
However disliking the company does not make me hate their IPS, which are some of my favorites of all time. I don't even dislike Konami.
The console market on Japan is just really bad even while the gaming industry has double since 2005.
Wii U is the best selling 8th console, but they took the consoles off the store shelves months ago, there is also rumors they stopped production.
PlayStation is still trying getting exclusives like Street Fighter V, and The King Of Fighters XIV which are series traditionally released on the arcades.
Arcade gaming is a much larger industry in Japan, having Sega and Taito an arcade in almost every corner which is why Sony is aiming to this market with those exclusives. They even got Darius Burst which is Taito's flagship for their arcade centers.
Sony is also trying with huge deals with Square Enix like NieR Automata, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy VII Remake, considering how popular these sagas are on PC in Japan.
Yet it looks like unless NX comes with something big next year, Japan is stuck with mobile.

While it's understandable why Konami isn't represented in there (they just aren't very interested in video games anymore), it's puzzling why there are no Tecmo-Koei characters, as they have been colaborating to Nintendo since the past generation (Metroid Other M and the Hyrule Warriors games) and Hayabusa is a classic NES character.

^ Well, Smash isn't really about paying homage to classics, it's more about promoting future products.
As for Mewtwo, I don't think Melee is actually a balanced game. I'd rather have either a balanced Mewtwo or a super strong Mewtwo. It feels goofy that him and Bowser are clearly less-usable than Jigglypuff, for example.

^ Well, Smash isn't really about paying homage to classics, it's more about promoting future products. That's what it's about now, but before Brawl it used to be only about Nintendo games. *sigh* How I miss those days when gaming companies weren't venal sellouts. And yeah, some of the characters in Melee weren't represented very well in said game, like the two you mentioned. But hey, at least it's not as bad as in Brawl, where the bottom tier consists of literally nothing but Nintendo's most famous mascots and villains (Mario, Link, Samus, Bowser, Ganondorf, etc). That was downright ridiculous.
