I've been wanting to make this update for a while now.
So I'm sure a lot of you have wondered why I don't post Star Wars discussion threads anymore. It probably seems strange to you guys since I used to be obsessed with discussing many of the finer details of Star Wars lore like background characters, planets, etc. Well the reason why I have seemingly abandoned all interest in talking about Star Wars is because simply put it no longer interests me or matters to me. For a lot of people, the Star Wars fandom with all its mentally insane Episode VII haters is their personal reason for distancing themselves from the Star Wars franchise, and while I do agree that the Star Wars fandumb is absolute cancer in just about every respect, my reason for leaving the Star Wars franchise is more personal.
The real reason I don't like Star Wars- and the science fiction genre as a whole- anymore is because of my intense hatred of technology and the catastrophic impact it has had on our planet. When I look back at Star Wars now as an educated adult, I can see how flawed George Lucas's understanding of technology is and how blissfully ignorant he was towards technology's impact on the environment. And this issue didn't seem to be addressed when Disney took control of the franchise, either. It really upsets and angers me when I look back at these films now. It's especially upsetting for me because I was a part of the "TV generation"; AKA kids who were raised by movies and television. My parents were neglectful, ignorant, all-american assholes who didn't educate me about anything and never spent any real time with me, and they used movies and TV as a distraction so they didn't have to spend time with me. Movies like Star Wars really mislead my understanding of the planet, and as someone with environmentalist roots it's especially troubling for me now.
I don't hate George Lucas. I can tell he's a nice guy who genuinely loves people, and I appreciate the positive moral code that he put into his films. The thing is, series like Star Wars represent a greater problem with american society: man's blissful ignorance towards technology's impact on the environment. This problem isn't exclusive to americans, although it's a known fact that america is home to more climate change deniers than any other country on earth.
So yeah, I don't like Star Wars or the science fiction genre as a whole anymore. I still worship the incredible art direction of the better George Lucas era films, and I appreciate some other stuff about them but as a nature lover it's not enough to earn my respect anymore. The only kind of science fiction that I still enjoy is dystopian sci-fi like Predator 2, Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, Akira, and other such films that don't sugar coat the destructive impact of technology.
I'm probably going to have to make more forum updates since I'm not even able to post threads about the stuff I DO want to talk about right now, like microcars, social movements, etc. because I'm going through a ton of personal problems right now and it's consuming all of my time and causing emotional problems, which makes it difficult for me to post here. As someone who was historically one of the more active posters here, I figured that I needed to say this. I hope you guys can understand.

Star Wars happened in a galaxy far far away, we only know about it because the Galactic Federation has been implanting these ideas on George Lucas, and I guess now Disney capitalist executives too, but even though we are talking about the far far past, in those places global warming is already way pass their main concerns.

Ever since we digressed into a discussion about Star Wars in the Highlander 2 thread a while back I've been wanting to post this: abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/prince-william-criticizes-space-tourism-race-focus-saving/story?id=80579522Prince William recently lambasted William Shatner and the space tourism industry after Shatner boasted about taking a recreational flight into space, saying that society should be focusing on fighting climate change instead of pooling money into space exploration, space tourism, space colonization, and space mining industries that are the causing the calamity! Right on, William! I'm with ya. I also can't stand the ignorance some first world countries have towards climate change. I hate George Lucas, I hate James Cameron, I hate William Shatner, I hate Gene Roddenberry, I hate Jeff Bezos, and I hate Elon Musk. These first-world pigs are trying to turn Earth into a polluted concrete dystopia devoid of any nature, one with man as the only monoculture, just like Cybertron or Coruscant Well I won't let them. I will continue fighting against them until my last dying breath.

Sometimes I wonder how you get to sleep Maestro, knowing that all of this injustice is at work and in power. I'm glad I can be here to enjoy and revel in the products these legends have made. There's something extra great about liking something you despice. It comforts me at night.

How about Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Branson, Robert Bigelow, Paul Allen, Robert Zemeckis, Woody Allen, Stephen Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick, and Roman Polanski?
Do you like those?
I think I heard Balder saying he doesn't like J.J. Abrams and Sam Mendes, but I could be wrong.

I think I heard Balder saying he doesn't like J.J. Abrams and Sam Mendes, but I could be wrong. Mark Zuckerberg is a cybernetic, mega-rich conservative white-collar scumbag, so obviously I hate him, yes. Nothing more to say. I never liked Richard Branson. I don't know very much about him, but the recent press about his space ventures makes me sick with rage. Even back in the day I don't remember him being very progressing. He's just another 1% first world pig. I HATE Robert Zemeckis. His films have ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way, especially Forest Gump with how it victimizes america's veitnam veterans. Ooh, how that still makes me so mad all these years later. What a piece of shit this guy is. I believe the accusations against Woody Allen which is why I hate him and think he's a terrible, disgusting excuse for a human being. Guilty until proven innocent. I intensely despise Stephen Spielberg with a red hot burning passion. Jaws is the reason why sharks are universally demonized across the world. Jaws might not have been the first Hollywood movie to depict sharks as mindless man-eaters, but it was the one that started the shark movie trend that has led to the senseless culling of sharks everywhere at the hands of first-world assholes who were brainwashed by Jaws into thinking that sharks are inherently evil man-eaters. Saving Private Ryan was an absolutely disgusting film as well (not to mention hugely overrated) that glorified america, guns and war. It's also worth mentioning that his films since The Lost World have all sucked shit and he's pretty much a hack now as far as I'm concerned, so he's not even good from a film-making perspective anymore, not that that matters. Stanley Kubrick was a workaholic asshole who abused Shelly Duvall and made at least one overrated, pretentious film in 2001 A Space Oddessy, so I have absolutely no reason to care about him. i.e. I hate him too. Roman Polanski is a terrible human being who didn't take responsibilty for his crime so I don't like him one bit. Yeah, he was a holocaust survivor who had a terrible childhood, but that doesn't excuse what he did. He deserved prison time, plain and simple. I don't know who Robert Bigelow or Paul Allen are. I may have seen their films, but I don't recall their names so I don't know anything about them. J.J. Abrams is a cool guy who hasn't done anything wrong. He didn't even want to direct the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Disney forced him into doing it, so even if I was passionate about Star Wars I wouldn't hold him responsible for anything. The only reason Star Wars fan-brats hate his guts his because he "ruined" their precious franchise. *rolls eyes*

Robert Bigelow and Paul Allen were mentioned because they also have space programs like Elon Musk, Richard Branson, and Jeff Bezos. They are not filmmakers.

He's made a couple good films like American Beauty and 1917.
Robert Zemeckis, Woody Allen, Stephen Spielberg, Stanley Kubrick and Roman Polanski are all certified kings of directing movies though.

I guess I was confused with Sam Mendes, but I was right about your take on J.J. Abrams, so many Jewish directors I get confused sometimes. At least Melee says he likes J.J..
