Well, after a decade of development hell, it looks like Avatar 2 is coming out in December. To absolutely 0 of my clucks given. Unless Avatar 2 is a complete reboot that pretends the first movie didn't happen, I also won't give a cluck.

Meh, I watch a lot of movies, so I'll probably watch this one too. My excitement level is none, but I'm also not against it.
The only movies I was excited for were Dune, 007 James Bond, and Matrix 4, which already happened last year.
Other than that maybe John Wick 2023, and if Denis Villeneuve, Andrew Niccol, or Christopher Nolan come out with something, I would enjoy seeing that too.
Things like Marvel, DC, or anything else really, are like whatever for me, but I can still watch them and enjoy them if they are at least OK.
That said, anytime Hollywood releases a movie that is meant to be a blockbuster there is usually a hidden spoiler to things that may occur in society, and that can make a somewhat regular movie into something interesting to watch, so who knows, maybe this one is one of those too.

I get the feeling they'd cock it up another way.

Yeah, I would prefer a sequel myself than a reboot, but I imagine it is a problem considering they probably need new actors too, although it hasn't been that long either. I guess I'm curious now what they will come out with.

Avatar 2: The Way of Space Colonization.
This genre of Sci Fi can go F--- off. It was never good. The original Star Wars trilogy were some of the stupidest films you could watch back in the day, and by 2022 you'd have to be a slobbering, materialistic, evil, greedy, conservative retard to enjoy pro-space sh*t like Avatar, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.
This garbage is all just conservative gen X & baby boomer propaganda. Makes me happy I lost complete interest in art a couple years ago. Too many slobbering retards in the community.

Both George Lucas and John Williams are from that period. Although I could say that at least most of what John Williams did for it was inspired by Gustav Holst, and that guy was Missionary.

Buck Rogers was from the silent-film era (barely), but Flash Gordon wasn't. More accurately, George Lucas is just a regressive 50s kid who worships pre-hippy american culture, which is painfully apparent if you look at American Graffiti and his obsession with Norman Rockwell paintings, for example.

American Graffiti is pretty awesome, I know it's based on those 50s - '62 era, but when I went to High School, I remember even in the senior year, we would ride and drive endlessly listening to music. One of the girls I used to ride with died recently of breast cancer, she was only 32, so the movie is even more nostalgic for now even though I graduated in 2005.
By the way, I bought tickets for the new Avatar on 3D and D-Box this Friday because the tickets were gone for Wednesday and Thursday, so we'll see what they have done in 13 years.

I went to see #2, obviously a continuation of Ang Lee's high frame rate proposition for 3D movies. I always liked the soap opera effect despite many cinematographers disliking it. Ang Lee stuff wasn't well received, but when James Cameron does it I imagine it's kind of setting a new standard, which I was always hoping for. I saw many typical elements from Cameron's films style, including cinematography that reminds you of Terminator 2 Judgement Day, Aliens, and even the documentaries from Cameron of visiting Earth's ocean floor, which I imagine inspired him to go in that direction. Plus like Cervantes said, water is always one of the oldest ways to impress people. I definitely recommend going for a massive screen on 3D, it is the only way to enjoy all 3 hours of a sci-fi docu film like this. There was a bit of military industrial complex criticism, but in a way that shows two different perspectives without showing actual bias, which is interesting because the aquatic thecnological toys were a showcase of the movie too I'm pretty sure he enjoyed displaying. After all, when Cameron did hit in real life Earth's ocean floor with his Metal Slug ocean vehicle that costs a million dollars or so, he found a door. (They asked what was behind it, and his answer was you should buy your own million dollars vehicle, and find out for yourself.) That alone tells you his love for these things, which makes sense considering the recognition he got from Titanic where his love for the ocean likely took off.

stratogustav - I think Cameron's interest in the ocean goes as far back as 1989, when he directed The Abyss. Dude really loves water in his movies.
