This is one of the lamest movements ever made. Not only is it a blind revenge movement, but it's hardly going to fix anything within police culture in America.

Defunding the police is very idiotic and the fact that the us uses a lot of money on police isn’t the issue at all. The issues lie in the entire police force and the philosophy behind criminality in the us. You can compare it to the police force in Norway. Norway is one of the countries that has the highest spending on police, but the philosophy in Norway when it comes to punishment and prisons are completely different from the us. Norway has one of the lowest if not lowest recidivism rates in the world (people who comes back to jail) at about 20%. Norway has a complete focus on rehabilitation while the U.S. has a focus on punishment. In Norway the punishment is jail you are not supposed to get punished in jail. There is also the educational side of the police force.
In Norway you need three years of police school where there is a massive focus on de-escalation tactics, ethics, and all sorts of stuff. You actually need to write a bachelor. But in the U.S. it differs from state to state, but from what I can find the average was 21-34 weeks…
To fix the police force in the U.S. you need a complete overhaul of everything. Not just slash the budget or some small reform. Another thing to note is the privatization of prisons in the us and the modern slavery associated with those jails.

People don't realize that a lot of the training cops go through is for high risk situation with gangs like MS13, and 18. Those gangs don't wait, they just straight up shoot, and if they have a knife they can still get you at 15 meters. Many cops died in the 90s because these guys are fast, and so the police was reformed for those situations. It's to protect the lives of the police, the way police is training is the only chance of survival they have in these situations. The problem is that the same training is applied to all cops, so even if they are not facing those situations they are train to treat every situation the same way, and that's how human mistakes are made. But defunding the police is ridiculous, even as a libertarian, that's not a situation you want to find yourself in.

It doesn't help that our minorities get screwed over by our racist school system, which just loves targeting native americans, blacks, and hispanics (especially native americans). The mentally ill get hobbled by our school system, too, but they generally turn out differently, not usually turning to gang-life, albeit just as broken though. Yes, I am speaking from personal experience. LET'S HEAR IT FOR JOE BIDEN!!!!!!!!I hope Brazil becomes the next country to get its police forces reformed, because based on what I've read recently, the mentally ill and minorities of Brazil have become increasingly imperiled in recent years. I heard there were huge protests in France recently over the shooting death of a teenager at the hands of their police forces. It seems like whenever a far-right politician like Macron gets elected there're always a bunch of instances of heinous police brutality that follows.
Fuck conservative politics. You'd have to be an asshole to be a conservative nowadays.
