Since I just spent 10 minutes ranting about grass in the general discussion sub-forum, and since it's still the growing season season right now here in america, I figured: how about we discuss Bliss?
Frankly, this discussion is long overdue. For Windows XP users, Bliss needs no introduction. It remains the single-most iconic default wallpaper of any Windows OS, as well as one of the most celebrated and parodied photographs of its time, period.
But tragically, like most of Microsoft's properties, Bliss has become neglected and has fallen from the public's attention for many years now due to lack of any further official support by Microsoft. As far as I'm concerned, this is heinous and tragic. Because, despite my hatred of lawnmowing, and despite my profound objection to monoculture, I have always regarded bliss warmly. As a picture, it's a perfect capture of a better-than-perfect frame of time, which is why I believe it lives up to its name.
So, what do you guys think of bliss? Do you have anything to say about it? How would you rate it as a picture? How would you rate it as a wallpaper? Does it work better as a picture or a wallpaper? Do you prefer the clouds in the photo, or just the grass? Was it worthy of Windows XP? What month of the year does Bliss remind you of?
