The only real time Sega let me down was when they cancelled the Saturn. Sega magazine promised me Fatal Fury Real Bout 2 and Resident Evil 2. But it never happened.

The only real time Sega let me down was when they cancelled the Saturn. Sega magazine promised me Fatal Fury Real Bout 2 and Resident Evil 2. But it never happened. I walked into Electronic Boutique at the time. Looked around on the walls and noticed there weren't any Saturn games. So I asked a sales associate where they were?
"I am sorry. They discontinued the Saturn."
I walked out...

With the amount of cool IPs that Sega owns that are dead, they went ahead and did this:

dschult3 - I don't get why they would buy an expensive developer that was a one-hit wonder and hasn't been relevant for years. Is Angry birds still getting so much money to be worth it? Because if Sega is depending on them to develop a new hit, that's not happening. They're the company that randomly lived a fad after plagiarizing another game, Crush the Castle, and that's it. What next? Will Sega hire the guy from Gangnam Style expecting another hit song with a billion views on Youtube?

My guess is that arcade games are having a come back in virtual reality at some point, and likely on Augmented Reality too. Angry Birds is one of the most iconic arcade games in recent history. They are betting on the future.

They are betting on the future. If they are banking on an augmented reality Angry Birds it's more understandable. I remember that was what Microsoft wanted to do with Minecraft at some point too, but then they showed a very fabricated "demo" at E3 (it was pre-rendered) and then never ever brought the subject again.

Yeah that's right, it was for augmented reality. The technology is too expensive still. Similar situation Micro LED is still facing.
