So since I have acquired a New Nintendo 3DS now (it'll come through shipping in a couple of days), I need some games. I have very little knowledge about the must-haves in these two libraries (except that Pokemon and Castlevania are pretty good). Bring them on!
EDIT: Don't be afraid of posting common titles, I actually would prefer to see those as I'm raiding the closest GameStop for cheap games.

I guess I'll start it off. Since you have the new one, I suppose you should get the new version of Xenoblade Chronicles. I'm a huge fan of the series. You might as well get the only exclusive for the better processor.

Since you already mentioned all the DS Castlevania games, besides New Super Mario Bros. DS and Super Mario 64 DS, here are some of the essentials I own for the system that I definitely recommend:  Make sure you don't get Sonic Boom. It is easy to fall for it, I didn't, but I can see others do. Good Sonic games are All-Stars Racing Transformed, all the Mario Olympic games, and Lost World. I'm also hearing good things about "Kirby Planet Robobot", "Hyrule Warriors Legends", and "Metroid Prime Federation Force", so they are on my wish list to get. Metroid Prime Blast Ball is free right now on the Nintendo eShop. Physically I also want to get "Meta Night", and "Chibi-Robo!" considering I already have their respective Amiibos. Digitally I have "Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition", and "Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden"; both great fighting games I now wish I had gotten them on physical form instead. In fact, digitally, I only recommend to get the classics on 3D. They have a lot of classic Nintendo and classic Sega games that have been restored on 3D. The eShop is pretty much the only place you can get them in 3D format and the 3D makes them look spectacular. The other classics that have not received the 3D treatment I end up getting on my Wii U instead, just to enjoy them on the big screen, but it is up to you since all those games are usually outstanding when it comes to gameplay. Remember that just like for any other system, "essentials" are basically those games the system is known for. |

All this talk of 3DS and now I kinda want one, too... That's how I got dragged into it. My friends were playing Pokemon on their DS's talking about how awesome it would be to get 3DS's with Sapphire/Ruby. Those two defined a period in my life at elementary school. Everyone had them and were trading pokemons around. So since Nintendo remade them; it's a golden opportunity to relive some of those memories. |

BalderI don't even know the types of games you enjoy! If I had to tell you about one must-have, then I'd separate it by genre: RPG: The Dark Spire - note that I haven't played Etrian Odyssey past number 2, nor have I checked the 3DS port of Soul Hackers, so I could very well be missing something. Action: Castlevania Order of Ecclesia I feel that doing action on handhelds is hard, so my recommendation for action genres in general is a 2D action-platformer. ... Well, this is embarrassing! I can't think of more must-haves.

Well, I always liked Lost Magic, It's got a very big difficulty wall in the beginning but I liked the concept behind it, other than that I can only think about Hotel Dusk, The Phoenix Wright series and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure in games that haven't already been mentioned

Surprised I didn't post in this thread. I have been without a 3DS for a while so my favorites for it are all old, just got a New 3DS XL though so that will be changing.
