Gonna suck. Sonic was an ok movie, but sucked as a Sonic movie. I think this may even be worse.

I love all the Despicable Me movies. I think they are all fantastic.
I'm happy with the cast as well. I hope they make a 3D version for IMAX.

The original Mario movie might be known as a terrible disaster, but one thing that was spot on was its casting, especially Bob Hoskins as Mario. I don't really see Pratt's voice being a good fit, but the dude is a funny actor and may deliver a good performance, provided the script doesn't suck.

Hey, Charlie Day is Luigi! Maybe it's the closest we'll get to Danny DeVito this time. I thought Pratt's voice was alright and the trailer is ok, looks like a nice movie for kids. On a more psychological note: there's something very subliminally jarring about a modern CG Mario being animated by an american studio, my subconscious is picking something different from how I expect Mario to look and move (that also goes to everything else). It seems very close to how he looks in modern games, but not quite enough. Maybe that's why you're getting Sonic movie vibes, centipede? It's similar to that strange impression that I get when fans "recreate" a game in Unreal Engine 5 and you can just feel that the art style is off. |

I haven't seen the Direct yet, but I know what you mean about the Unreal Engine recreations, it is definitely a weird thing because objectively they look fine, but it feels like their soul is missing, and are some kind of imposters, it's weird how that works. |

Cervantes @strtogustav Well, you talk about soulless? CGI from any age has always looked like plastic. But I think it's Mario's eyes that make me think of Sonic.
