Mark has done a ton of LCD reviews, so it is about time we discuss what your favorite LCD game was/is. My family did not have a lot of money, so I played these atrocities for years, until I finally saved up for a Game Boy. Most of them sucked, but there were a few I loved. I haven't played them in well over 20 years, but my favorite LCD game was an unlicensed game known as Mouse Maze. It isn't bad for a Tiger hand held. It was one of the few games that understood its limitations, yet was actually fun. As the levels get harder, there are more cats around to catch you in the labyrinth. It actually was fun AND challenging. (gasp!) I think the batteries eventually ruptured and ruined my game, so I can't show you a personal pic. Do you guys have any favorites? If so, which ones?

I had a few of the licensed ones. Before the Game Boy, I didn't realize how bad they were and they got regular use. After the Game Boy, there was no going back. If Nintendo's Game & Watch LCD games weren't so expensive now, I'd love to have one of those. I don't think that the technology was bad, it's just that Tiger didn't do it right. You make Mouse Maze sound like fun, though lol

@dschult Hoo boy! I can relate.
My first one was this where you had to move this ship over to the right side of the screen and pick up the person. You had to look out for obstacles coming from below and sometimes a space pterodactyl would snatch your man before you could drop him off on the left platform.
My second was where you had to catch all the falling people. The game over music was London Bridge was Falling Down. I still have it, but I don't even know if it still works.
Then there were two proper ones that weren't mine. One was Donkey Kong Jr. (my favourite) and the other was Greenhouse, where you had to spray insects before they ate your plants, and it looked like a DS.

Good God did I learn a thing or two about the rosy colored glasses known as nostalgia. Oh my God, do those suck. Oddly enough though, it was the Coleco games of the 1970s that actually became more fun as I rediscovered them. My Dad had them hidden from me and my brothers, because he didn't want them messed up. They are REALLY simplistic with the red LED displays, but they are addictive.

( a space pterodactyl???) The London Bridges game sounds damn near sadistic, if you ask me. Why are people falling from the sky at random? You've got to take a picture of that one!

I remember this one being kinda addictive. If it wasn't up there in price I'd buy it off of ebay.

I think most of the licensed ones sucked in a special way. Like, they simply had worse ideas going on for them, but I still played a hell lot of that Sonic one. Heh! Funny to see it brought up. My favorite one was the one in which you play as a knight on what seems to be the top floor of a castle, and vampires come rushing in and you gotta switch to their positions by moving left and right and attacking them with your sword. It was the one that played the better among the ones I tried.

These are the games my Dad hid from the kids, so we wouldn't destroy them in the 80s: You know, they seem so simplistic, yet they still are fun (in 10 minute increments). I remember reading somewhere that they re-released these around 2000 some time. I'm willing to bet they were re-released due to nostalgia, but I've got to say...the old red LED screens were much more mesmerizing than the Game Boy green screen.

Huh. Never expected to see a thread about LCD games ever in my life. Well, personally I liked the Sega ones that came in the happy meals a couple of times. They were not exactly complex or anything but they were very responsive and were good to kill the time every now and then as a kid. I used to have the whole collection but I lost them somewhere (Or did I sell them? I really don't remember)

Yeah, it felt strange starting it, but Mark does a lot of LCD reviews. I think that is how I justified it to myself, anyways. I don't think I have ever seen the Sega LCD games before now. When did you get them? I wonder if they only came out in a certain region of the planet/country.

And if they were region locked they must've been region locked to the Americas only, as us mexicans get the same happy meals promotions as the US with a 0-4 week delay period between promotions (Unless the toys are deemed "Offensive", if that scenario happens toys from previous promotions get added into the rotation).
