Why lump the two games into one discussion? Turok 2 is universally considered superior to 3, so it doesn't make sense to do this.
Anyway, one of my favorite content creators recently did a video detailing the shockingly shady management at Retro Studios in their early years under a certain CEO before they were bought out by Nintendo:
Man, Texas never fails to produce some the most embarrassing clowns to have ever walked the earth. I'm posting this video since it's relevant because the same guy who founded Retro Studios also founded Iguana Studios, the developers of Turok 2 & 3, as well. Honestly I'm surprised Turok 1 & 2 turned out as well as they did considering they were produced by this lunatic.

Turok 1 & 2 were made by the same people that makes Donkey Kong Country nowadays and the did the Metroid Prime series, they are incredibly memorable. This is when video games started to feel like virtual first person experiences, and it was hypnotic in a way.
The third Turok was made by other people already, and that's when the franchise started going downhill, but only after they had already become a household name at the time.
