I do have TMNT nostalgia, I had a bunch of action figures from them when I was a kid like Army Raphael, Native American Leonardo, Detective Donatello, Surfer Michelangelo, and many more.
I also love the classic movies, and the look the Turtles have in those movies. Which is why I think those newer NECA movie based action figures look amazing.
In terms of games one of the first video games I remember playing besides Super Mario Bro. and Duck Hunt was TMNT II on the NES. A neighbor had it, and he would invite me over to play the game. This was before I got my SNES on 1994.
Transformers is another IP I am very fond of even though until a few months ago that I watched the first season I didn't remember anything at all about the cartoon.
But that didn't stop me for loving it. I think those Takara Tomy Masterpiece classic line of toys looks amazing too. In fact, I wish Michael Bay would use that classic look for the Transformers like the Deceptions that show up on the Bumblebee movie.
I also had some Transformers as a kid, Optimus Prime obviously, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Ratchet, Ironhide, among others, usually from my cousin who gave them to me because he is older and I inherited them.
There were other IPs I also have some nostalgia for like Power Rangers, Ranma 1/2, Street Sharks, Biker Mice From Mars, Ronin Warriors, and even Sailor Moon, LOL!
However the way I see people showing nostalgia for TMNT is something I recognize in myself when it comes to X-Men.
Because I know how ridiculous my nostalgia for X-Men is, I totally understand why people feel so strong about TMNT the way they do, and I totally get it.
Usually it is stronger than what I see people with Defenders Of The Earth, G-Force, Masters Of The Universe, ThunderCats, etc., and that is because TMNT was huge, so it makes sense.
It really depends from person to person. We see it in Anime too. I know a lot of people that are super fans of Dragon Ball Z, others are of Pokémon, and I love Dragon Ball Z too, I think it is the best show ever made, but for me in terms of Anime, Saint Seiya is the series I feel the most level of nostalgia for.
Some people like Street Fighter more. I love Street Fighter too, immensely, but in terms of nostalgia I have more for Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.
Even within the same IP there are differences. A lot of people have nostalgia for the first Mortal Kombat game. I have zero nostalgia for that game, but I love Mortal Kombat II and Mortal Kombat 3.
In terms of X-Men for example, some people like the pilot Konami uniform more.
I love that too, but I like the Capcom one from the main animated series more.
It is what it is.
Just like
Cervantes said, I see people having a lot of feelings for TMNT, and I have them too, just not as much, but it makes sense when I compare it to the ones I have the most for like Knights Of The Zodiac, Mortal Kombat, and X-Men.
The good thing is that it is a bit contagious, and it is easy to get excited about these things too if you let it. Although to be fair I haven't bought Shredder's Revenge yet, I will, for sure, but I do have the River City Girls one already. It is interesting to see how that works.
