Some things never change... and only get worse. When a movie becomes a documentary...

This movie, besides being masterfully crafted, put a spotlight on things that many people were unaware of, in the day without internet, or so few independent media outlets. Such as executive meddling and corporate pandering.
Here’s the basic rundown:
The movie opens up with multiple screens, followed by a narration about the struggling channel UBS-TV. The story revolves around Howard Beale (Peter Finch), a news presenter, who is fired. Gradually, he becomes unhinged, even saying he's going to kill himself on-air on his final night.
When UBS is bought out by the Communications Corporation of America (CCA), his best friend and boss, Max Schumacher, finds himself under the spell of the new program chief, Diana, who manipulates him into an affair while seeking to tap into the misery of the public to increase the station's standing, even teaming up with a group of commie terrorists for a new show.
And then this happens:
Seeing the key to her success, she gives Howard a show.
The whole set reeks of insincerity, from the upbeat music and the fake leadlight window in the back ground. Oh, you also got to love the audience's reaction:
Eventually, Beale discovers that the CCA is going ot be bought out by a Saudi Arabian company. So, he reveals this on the show amd gets his viewers to take action and prevent it. It succeess, but then Mr. Beale is summoned by CCA Chairman, Arthur Jenson and, with Beale's own sermonising tone, berates him.
Beale’s tone changes on his subsequent shows and the ratings begin to drop. Fiona scrambles to replace him. Without spoilers, the movie ends reversing out of the blur of multiple screens, implying such a dramatic series of events would always be drowned out and forgotten in the passage of time and media saturation. Wow.
