This week, the adventure continues for our blue needlehog, as he butts heads with an echidna and makes friends with a young kitsune. And who and what else could it be, but...?

If the movie was made in the 90s, right after Super Mario Bros., I bet it would look EXACTLY like that poster. I can totally see Steve Buscemi as Tails.
I haven't watched the movie yet, but I'm already disappointed that it introduces Knuckles without even having "& Knuckles" in its title. Maybe they left that for the 3rd movie, which must be divided in two parts and have some kind of lock-on technology to view the full version.

My kids liked it, so that's all that really mattered to me. My wife took them to see it, so I don't have a clue about it. However, she did talk about how there was a real world wedding drama juxtaposed to the Sonic and Knuckles story, and she found that a bit odd. She said it kind of worked out in the end though.

The weekend is my last chance to see it. When I do, I'll have a review ready, cos its like, super important and stuff. Cervantes Yeah, they might add "& Knuckles" to the fourth movie. Unless they straight up call it Sonic 4, which might imply a serious case of sequel-itis.

I enjoyed it at the theater when it came out, Jim Carrey retired, so it makes it hard for a sequel, although it is not clear what happens to his character at the end of the movie, but they show Shadow for the sequel, so who knows , I thought the movie does put Sega in a good light to be honest, like they are bigger than they look nowadays.

My supa importent revuw:
The last time we saw the slim and trim Doctor Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey), he was stranded on the mushroom planet, but he returns with the help of a planet hopping Knuckles the Echidna (voiced by Idris Elba).
Meanwhile, after playing super hero (in a scene with a missed opportunity for a Sonic Adventure "Yeah, this is happening!" reference), Sonic gets a pep talk about herosim from Donut Lord. However, after his adoptive parents head to Hawaii for the wedding of obnoxious-sassy-fat-black-woman from the last movie. Afterwards, Robotnik and Knuckles show up at his house and make a few large holes in it, until he's rescued by Tails in a stolen police car.
Tails somehow knows a lot about Sonic and idolises him, somehow. Together, they set out to outrun Kncukles and Robotnik and recover the Master Emerald, hidden during a conflict between the Echidna's and the Guardians of Ga'hoole. They end up in a dance off in Siberia, before finding a trinket in a secret temple, but are ambushed by Robotnik and Knuckles, culminating in a classic snowboard chase and missed opportunity to play a bit of "Hard Times" by the Jetzons.
They lose the trinket and end up warping to Hawaii, where it turns out obnoxious-sassy-fat-black-woman's fiancee (along with all the guests) was working for GUN because they wanted Sonic. The drama in this scene with scene dragged on too long and I found myself groaning "get on with it!"
But eventually, the movie ends with a fight against a gigantic egg mech, hastily constructed out of tank parts by the supercharged Robotnik (another missed opportunity: a Super Saiyan moustache!).
Tails had lots of gadgets, but he was very downplayed. And Knuckles, with the deep voice by Idris Elba and the primitive mindset, was halfway towards being Ugandan Knuckles. He was true to his character of being naive and easily tricked by Robotnik, but also more than socially awkward.
This movie added more lore potential than the first, but I didn't enjoy it as much.
P.S. I just learned this is Jim Carrey's final movie. I wonder how this will affect the next movie.
