I really wanted to like this movie. I really did. I love movies that are flashy and touch on deeper subjects. Human evolution is fascinating to me. However, Lucy falls under that "too unbelievable" genre. Simple things that are common knowledge amongst people in the know cause some people to reject the premise to the point that you cannot suspend reality and enjoy the film. I remember a lecture I attended years before this film while in undergrad on the subject of using 100% of the brain fallacy. Humans don't use just 10% of their brains. They use most of it, just not all at once. If you are using all at once, you are probably having a seizure. Just knowing that fact made me check out before this movie even came out. I gave it a chance though, because it looked cool at the time (I like the actors too!), but it was INCREDIBLY STUPID. I should have known, since the premise is wrong, but for God's sake: The movie gets worse as it plods on! Of course, it leads to that awful ending. I guess I'll go spoiler free, but for those of you who watched it: Really? CPH4 and the flash drive. That's all I'll say. How stupid can you take your audience to be?

Yes, this was pure science fiction. There was nothing real about this. However I was able to enjoy a few small details. One was that one of the Asian guys holding her while she was kidnapped actually shot her, which means those guys were good if at least one got her before she killed them. Then the other one I liked is that the guy that was the closest to kill her was the mafia boss, which shows why he is the boss after all. The issue was that she achieved material illumination before he got her, but he was close. I wasn't happy about the ending, and I wish we had the 3D version that Asian regions got, but it still was a bit of an eye candy to watch because of Scarlett Johansson of course.
