What are the weirdest video game fandoms?

Hahahaha that's some weird shit. But it's hard to think of something weirder than Sonic's fandom, just by the virtue of part if it being people who wants to fuck those characters. The other part is there for the weird memes, to the point that even the official Twitter account and the games incorporated that. There's also Gary's Mod, which is entirely about fans making deranged animations.

For a more niche weirdness, I want to say indie gaming circa 2010-16, as it was all about snotty 20 somethings rambling about the DeEPer MeaNiNgS of ART and hating anyone who actually had fun playing video games (there was also a strange hate for the Japanese industry). The fact that those idiots had no understanding of art history at all made their ramblings all the more weird. I think it all culminated with the debate around Phil Fish/Fez and mostly ended with the triumphant return of fun japanese games to the top with Metal Gear Rising, Nier Automata and a clearly more Japan focused Capcom, which in turn opened the way for the currently more light-hearted indie games and fans. I miss having that weird and obnoxious fandom around.
