What genres of film/TV do you despise the most?
The film genres that I personally despise the most with a red-hot burning passion are:
-the Western genre (True Grit, The Good&Bad&Ugly, Tomestone, Quigley Down Under, The Rifleman, Bonanza, etc.) -the Space Exploration genre (Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek Enterprize, all the Star Trek movies, 2001 A Space Odessey, Avatar, etc.) -the Space Colonization genre (Star Wars episodes 1-9, Star Trek, James Cameron's Aliens, Avatar, 2001, etc.) -the Military Propaganda genre (The Green Berets, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars, The Patriot, James Cameron's Aliens, McQ, Predator (the first one), the Rambo films, etc.) -the Religious Propaganda genre (i.e. The Passion of the Christ, The Ten Commandments, The Prince of Egypt, etc.)

I actually didn't like a lot of horror movies in general, excluding slasher films which are fun, but lately I have been watching a lot of James Wang stuff which aimed to the masses appeal, and when they make the horror films this way, they are actually quite entertaining. It is different than something like Scream that is just a comedy, it mostly jump scares, and they do have funny moments too, but enough to keep you entertained throughout the movie, which is a good thing, specially if you are only looking to kick back and enjoy a film. Not to mention the sound effects are pretty cool and they often give you the satisfaction that you are using your home theater properly, which is also a good thing.
Personally I enjoy all kinds of genres, but I need to be in the right headspace for it.

stratogustav - I only discovered James Wang recently and he does a really good job, Malignant being the absolute highlight for me. I also don't think there are genres that I openly hate, although some of them I may avoid, like period dramas. -the Military Propaganda genre (The Green Berets, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars, The Patriot, James Cameron's Aliens, McQ, Predator (the first one), the Rambo films, etc.) I get how some of these would fit in what you'd call "military propaganda", but I would open exceptions for Star Wars, Aliens and First Blood (the first Rambo movie). Here's why: - In the first Star Wars trilogy, the organized, official military forces are ostensibly the villains. The heroes are pretty much guerrilla revolutionaries: they are an alliance of small rebel groups (hence "Rebel Alliance"), not a military organization as an arm of the state etc. - Aliens is about the military being arrogant, showing all their powerful weapons and training, and then getting screwed. We learn that the military are subservient to a powerful corporation (so the soldiers are unknowingly defending private interests and profit) and seen just as expendables. The person who saves the day is Ripley, a civilian. - First Blood is about PTSD and lack of government assistance to war veterans, while depicting war as a deeply traumatic experience. If anything, just the final monologue is one of the most heart-wrenching anti-war speeches I've seen in a film. Absolutely flawless writing and delivery, Stallone went all out with that scene. I don't think it's a coincidence that the three movies were inspired by criticism of US actions on Vietnam (George Lucas and James Cameron openly talked about this as recently as 2018), so none of them view military forces in high regard. Not saying that you should like these movies or anything, of course, I just don't see them as propaganda.

Not saying that you should like these movies or anything, of course, I just don't see them as propaganda. -I consider Star Wars military propaganda purely because it's space colonization. Anytime there's war in space, there are no good guys. The resistance is made up of a bunch of earthlings who invaded and conquered worlds that were not theirs, like Naboo for example, which they stole from the gungans. Same thing with the original trilogy. Planets like Tatooine, Aldarann, Endor, Hoth, etc. didn't belong to them and they had no right to be there. Star Wars is just a bunch of stupid nonsense anyway, since space colonization has never even been scientifically proven to be feasible for the human body. And once you throw war and space politics on top of THAT nonsense, then you have pure first world propaganda tripe. The rebels, the republic, the royal Naboo, etc. are all terrible people just like the Empire. As far as I'm concerned there are no heroes when it comes to outer space; they're all a bunch of super-emitting first world crooks. NASA, Space Force, Space X, Blue Origin, all evil. George Lucas is a regressive idiot with a 1950s mindset who was wrong right from the beginning. -I consider Aliens military propaganda because the marines are never actually portrayed as the bad guys despite doing a bunch of terrible shit like disobeying direct orders (example: refusing to cease fire in order to prevent a nuclear explosion) and generally acting like a bunch of immature, disobedient dickheads. I feel like these are the kind of assholes who even the american military wouldn't dishonorably discharge within a day. I can't stand them. They were never the good guys. And James Cameron turned Ripley into GI Jane. You make a good point about the military in Aliens defending corrupt corporations, which is always a welcome idea in sci-fi, but here I don't think it works because most american soldiers IRL (which these marines are based off of) are fully aware of this and outwardly worship these evil, mega-rich corporations, like the oil industry for example. American soldiers are so nationalistic and apathetic towards other countries that they don't even give a shit about moral correctness. They're just out to have their way with all the other countries. I never understood the Vietnam War influence in Aliens script. The only reason why the Vietnam War worked IRL is because the less gifted members of american society (i.e. impoverished minorities, high school dropouts, etc.) were forcefully drafted into the war. I don't understand how that scenario would work in a sci fi film set in a ritzy universe, and I never personally drew the comparison between the Vietnam War and Aliens' premise myself. I think George Romero's Day of The Dead did a much better job at portraying american marines than Aliens did. In Day of the Dead, the marines are more evil and a bigger threat than the zombies themselves, whereas the same is not true of Aliens, because the marines never betray Ripley like I feel they should have. Aliens would have been way scarier that way, being trapped on a colony with xenos AND far-right war-mongering fascists! THAT would have been a good film! Aliens really needed characters like Captain Rhodes and Steel in order to not come across as military propaganda. I have absolutely no respect for any films that portray american soldiers as the good guys.

Well, I do agree with Day of the Dead being awesome. Captain Rhodes is such a fun character.

As a general guideline, you can safely assume most men don't like rom-coms, especially when you take into account that a lot of these are fairy tales without the witches and dragons.

That's a quite good description of the genre. I can take a few of them in small doses, though, mostly Judd Apatow stuff: The 40 Year-old Virgin, Knocked Up and This is 40 weren't bad, but mostly because they rely much more on the comedy side than the romantic one. There's also the rare foreign movie that is more creative with the genre, like Medianeras (from Argentina). Outside that, it is a very hard genre to watch.

Pretty much everything is sci-fi now, even the news. Sci-fi is finally rulling the world.

OH, I forgot an extremely important genre for my most hated list: the religious propaganda genre (i.e. The Passion of the Christ, The Ten Commandments, The Prince of Egypt, etc.)
It's a genre I'm very curious about because I actually don't have much experience with it, which is a good thing lol. Surprisingly, there haven't been that many mainstream big-budget religious propaganda flicks, despite there being tons of high-ranking, far-right zealots in the entertainment industry like Mel Gibson, Butch Hartman, Don Bluth, etc.. Of the three I mentioned above, only The Passion of the Christ is widely viewed as being zealot propaganda. Nobody even talks about The Ten Commandments anymore, and The Price of Egypt was just a focus-group tested shameless cash-cow of a film; bad, but not bad enough to label it as sunday school entertainment. Maybe the direct-to-video sequel is? IDK I never saw that one.
Are there any infamous examples of mainstream Hollywood religious propaganda that I'm missing?
Bonus point: I dig this rant by Christopher Hitchens where he just mercilessly tears into Mel Gibson and exposes him for the far-right, racist, xenophobic, anti-semitic, liquor-loving zealot that he is:
He nailed it. RIP Chirstopher Hitchens.

No one who says they'll pray for you actually does it. It's like sometimes people will say "we should catch up" then forget about it a few hours later.

I just want to point out that I hate all of these genres in video games almost as much as I hate them in films. For example, I hate Portal 1 & 2 for glamorizing technology and space colonization propaganda:
I remember how hard Cervantes tried to get me interested in these games years back. I'm so glad I never touched them because if I did, I feel like I would have been brainwashed into worshipping technology and believing that robots and wormholes are the future.
I'm not necessarily saying he is, I'm just saying that I personally don't feel comfortable supporting this garbage. I don't doubt that it's a good puzzle game, but I do believe that Valve fails at being exceptionally better than other game companies by basically applying all of the same garbage that they do to the storylines of their products like gun culture, toxic masculinity (Gordon Freeman, Mann Co Store, etc.), space colonization propaganda, technology worship, etc.
And this goes for other video game franchises like Halo, Starcraft, Grand Theft Auto, Red Faction, etc. I want to make it absolutely clear that I don't take any of this stuff seriously and I don't believe that technology, space, and automobiles are the future.

Spirit Bomb - Maestro, dude, "science/technology advancement without ethical boundaries" is literally the villain in the Portal games. It's about AI getting out of control, poisoning almost every human and using the others for scientific experiments that have no purpose besides experimentation itself. It's quite clever in how it approaches the subject of "science without an objective and without concern for human safety" - or, more clearly, science without humanity. Let the AIs be in control of everything and quickly the entire thing goes to shit. Of course, it's all written with a sarcastic tone, which just makes everything even more scary. Despite the memes and funny phrases that fans repeated ad nauseaum, the first game at least has a very strong horror undercurrent. The sequel lost it a bit, but still follows the same themes. Also, the point of the "Space Core" on Portal 2 is that its obsession with space travel and stuff is very annoying. So, you know, maybe it is a commentary on how sci-fi in general being obsessed with space is kind of annoying too?
