I actually never understood this type of humor back in the day. It's like Pee Wee, and Napoleon Dynamite. I never got it. I feel people making memes of these things was always funnier than the actual movies. Although 2 years later in 1999 I really liked that Madonna song with him.

This movie is definitely not as memorable as the sequel. It does satirise at the 60's in general, not just the spy genre. although some stuff was funnier when I was younger.

Overrated movie. Compared to the sequel, the humor moves too slowly, and Elizibeth Hurley's character doesn't fit in with the Austin Powers universe at all (I mean, I know that's the joke, but ehh, it's not that funny of a joke), unlike Heather Graham in the sequel, who had perfect chemistry with the character of Austin Powers. 3/5 I prefer The Spy Who Shagged Me.
