This week, it's the furry and the fury, the furious furries, the furry fury, the furious fury, the furry furies...
The planet Cordelia is under attack by space armadas, and the only resistance are a few ships. How screwed is Cordelia? Or is it?
This isn't the saga of Bucky O'Hare, but sort of. It's got a fox, a falcon with the name of a deceased Austrian popstar, a rabbit and a toad that needs to be introduced to a shovel (seriously, cane toads are an invasive species threatening hundreds of native species every year....). All aircraft check-in for...

Ewww, we're discussing the entire franchise?? WHY?? Who the hell would want to lump masterpieces like Star Fox 1 & Star Fox 64 with garbage like Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Adventures??
I can't give a rating then. 1 & 64 are objectively a 5/5, Assault is a 3/5, Adventures is a 2/5, and I haven't played any of the others. I've heard very good things about Star Fox 2, while Zero and Command are widely regarded as the worst entries in the series.
Personally I think the first entry is underrated. Everybody always denounces it as being outdated, but aside from the choppy framerate, I couldn't find anything to dislike about it when I played it over a decade ago, and in fact I enjoyed it more than all the other first party SNES games that I've played including Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Pilot Wings, and A Link to the Past, among others. I mean, I could complain about the whole "glamorizing space colonization" aspect of it all, but in that case I'd rather go after pseudo-intellectual shit like System Shock and Mass Effect than an anthropomorphic, general audience game like Star Fox.
RIP Star Fox. Once a great franchise, now a great loss.

I was never into it even though it is the kind of game I should love. I think I just as through a period where I was against mascot games altogether.

I only played Star Fox 64 after playing Panzer Dragoon Zwei.
Unnecessary to say I was not impressed.

Here's a fact that no Star Fox fan would deny: Miyamoto is an ASSHOLE
What Miyamoto and the other Nintendo producers did to Argonaut games is one of the biggest atrocities in the gaming industry. First, they cancelled Star Fox 2 so it wouldn't steal thunder away from their own upcoming Star Fox 64 (while stealing ideas from Star Fox 2 in the process), and then they stole all the ideas from Argonaut's prototype for the first 3D Mario game, AKA Super Mario 64, a game which Nintendo took sole credit for designing. Absolutely disgusting.
RIP Argonaut. You were one of the greatest, most underrated developers ever and I'm sure you'd be around making great games if it weren't for Nintendo always stabbing you in the back.
EDIT: oh, and he forced Rare (another UK based company) to turn Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game (Star Fox Adventures), a game which pissed off every Star Fox fan because it had absolutely nothing to do with Star Fox and marked the decline of the series. What an asshole.

I disagree that Star Fox Adventures is garbage, it should have stayed Dinosaur Planet though. I do agree that Nintendo treated Argonaut like garbage.
Also, Star Fox 1 and 2 on the SNES are my favorites. It was cool when we finally got an official release of 2 on the SNES Classic and NSO for Switch.

You know, as much as I hate to admit it, I do think I'm probably being too hard on Star Fox Adventures. As terrible a Star Fox experience as it was, it at least redeemed itself in its graphics and audio. I still love the Thorntail Hollow theme to this day. Definitely one of the definitive "primeval" themed tracks in VGM history. The combat system is also very fun and flashy, even compared to OoT, though I never liked how the game forces you into combat if you unsheathe your staff whenever enemies are nearby. It's crap like this that made me miss the freedom of the combat in the 64 Zelda games and the other better OoT clones from that time period, which had MUCH better targeting systems in regards to the fighting segments. Why take freedom away from the player? Adventures really is just another inferior OoT clone when you get right down to it.
