In a world where interesting concepts are a foreign concept in the minds of Hollyweird, this movie takes me back to a creative time. I love this concept, and I really love this movie. Sure, it has a bit of early 90s cheese, but the idea of repeating a day continuously, until your heart changes is fantastic. Bill Murray isn't the biggest douche in the world, but he is a bit of a jaded jerk. As he relives Groundhog Day, he lives through the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Each day we are privy too can be confusing, funny, depressing, or enlightening. How many days would it take you to change for the better? How many days would it take you to care about someone else? How many days would it take for you to get over your own selfishness? Honestly, I think more people should watch this movie with this in mind.
I've never read the book, and it sounds really good, yet possibly depressing. As for how long it took Bill Murray to change? I'll let the internet try to decipher it.
