It's funny, I was never interested in MN9 until recently. A fangame called Megaman X Corrupted caught my interest a few years before MN9 was announced so I never really bothered with it. Even when the kickstarter was opened I didn't like it (although that's probably because I hate most kickstarters in general, even back then). I didn't like the designs and artstyle, and the gameplay seemed like some weird cross between the classic and X series that didn't really work. And when Inafune started asking money for Red Earth I knew he was just full of shit.
About a month or two ago, I saw some footage and pictures from a leaked build of the game. Of course it's hilariously unpolished graphics-wise and the level design is mediocre, but there was a level or two that had some pretty cool concepts. I also liked some the weapons, and I'm interested to see what playing Ray will be like. I might actually buy this game when it comes out, although I'm not expecting great things.
*edit looks like I got my games mixed up. When I said Red Earth I meant Red Ash. Red Earth is an awesome game though.

I grew up in the SNES era so I'll probably like it.
Most corporate reviewers are full of shit anyway.
If a game presents any challenge they hate it. Bad guys are supposed to be annoying, that's what Mega Man is.
The Cartoon Network artstyle is something I don't care for, but I'm not going to hate the game for it.
Weapons are supposed to be just that, weapons, they are not supposed to make you overpowerful.
The same goes with killing bosses in a certain order, that was supposed to be how you cheat the games, just because you can't cheat this one doesn't mean is bad.
This game doesn't even look hard at all, all the compliant I hear sound like they don't know what a run and gun platformer is.
Now I could be wrong and I could totally hate the game when it comes out.
But at least I want a game, you either have a game or you don't. It sounds like for people nowadays good gameplay means the first level of every game should be the rest.
They want something that looks difficult without being difficult, they want a game that does everything for them. Like the automatic levels in Super Mario Maker. It is insanity.

It looks like a bad joke. I know most people here don't give a damn about graphics, but that looks like a mobile game.

The graphics are 3D?? Eww, gross. 3D really doesn't suit the game's visual style at all. Maybe that's part of the problem.

Someone fill me in. What happened? Why is it a dud? I was discussing with someone that was arguing this game was this generation's Daikatana, and the more I compare the development cycle and background of both games the more sense it makes. Here, I'll make a list of all the similarities I can think of and I'm pretty sure someone else can find even more strange concidences between them: - Both projects were given a shit-load of money based solely on the face behind it, Daikatana had Romero and MN9 had Inafune.
- Both of them hired extremely incompetent people as part of the project because of nepotism (Stevie Case and Dina Karam being the most obvious comparison I can think of)
- Both of them suffered from delays after delays.
- Both of them looked aged by the time they were released in comparison to other games in the same genre that used way less resources and time.
- Both of them lost the market segment they were aiming for by other games with similar themes behind them (Daikatana to Quake and MN9 to Mighty Gunvolt)
- Both of them had a rather weak marketing campaign.
- Both suffer from poor vocal performance.
- Both of them had horrendous level design.
- Both of them suffer from poor optimization (Probably because the dev team was split in making around 7 versions of the same game at the same time)
- Both of them have a roster of weapons/abilities that concist of about 70% straight downgrades from stock weapons rendering them useless.
Those are all I the similitudes I could think of right now but hey, I'm just the local tin-foil wearing dude so I may be extrapolating a little bit here.

I'm liking all the hate because my expectations are getting lowered. That's always a good thing.
I'm the type of guy that if Mega Man X8 was released today looking exactly how Mega Man X8 looked back then, I would still like it.
In other words graphics do not mater to me, although this one is at least HD.
Now if gameplay end ups disappointing me and they make it too easy. Then yeah I will be bitching like those corporate reviewers.

I just wish Mega Man clones tried to build over Mega Man Zero series' gameplay instead of cloning the Classic or X series. Zero introduced so many cool features! EDIT: Also, while I don't care about graphics, it's the art style itself that looks unappealing. stratogustav said he would play a game that looks like Mega Man X8 nowadays, and I would too; but MN9 problem is that it just looks uninspired and bland. Can you guess which of these games was released 12 years ago?

First things first, I don't trust reviews randomly anymore, but c'mon! We saw that coming. We knew it was going to be like this.

I still think the game looks OK, but I didn't spend $30+ on it and wait years to get it and receive this. It really does look like a $15 game and I will probably get it but wait for a 50% off sale.

I pre-ordered for $20 on the PS3. I didn't back it though. I hope is there when I get back home.
