I play the PS3 more, and most of my platformers are there already.
I don't care for graphics so I don't mind if the PS4 version is a little bit sharper.
For the PS4 I only get games I can't get on my PS3.
By the way I was playing the game today and I'm afraid it's too easy.
I haven't tried the Maniac mode yet but maybe that will help the challenge.
It looks like they were aiming for kids, like the Bend 10 crowd at least. I'm afraid that affected the level design because the jumps are not hard at all to make, you can basically run through every level. There are not platforms tricky to reach or cliffs easy to fall on.
The presentation reminds me of Carnival Island which is a game I like, but for a platformer like Mega Man I can see how people is disappointed because they probably wanted a theme a bit more mature.
I like the levels music, but I care less for the menus music.
The game could benefit from a larger campaign. This is just a SNES size campaign.
The defining factor for me is that this is the only new game out there that has a character that shoots and moves like Mega Man X. So it is impossible for me to complaint about the gameplay. It is good (just make sure you change the dash from R1 to O).
If I was getting a game like this ever 3 to 6 months maybe I could be more critical but considering the options we have as players for these kind of games, I'm happy we are at least getting this one.

So I've managed to get my hands on a copy of Mighty No.9 for the PC. I don't really have the time to play it now but I'll start on it sometime tomorrow. Megaman games usually aren't that long so hopefully I'll finish up quick and share my thoughts on it.
I'm changing around the settings in advance and one thing I've noticed is that the main file to start the game is called "MN9Game.com". Usually games start with .exe files (or with additional .bat files) so it's weird seeing a .com file which is a really old and simple file type that isn't used any more (at least not to launch games). I was already worried about the stability and build quality of this game after hearing those horror stories of MN9 crashing on the Wii U, and having the game use these weird file types for no reason that I know of is getting me nervous.
If my computer blows up I'm blaming you guys.

I remember the hype surrounding the kickstarter announcement of the project back in 2013. Where does the time fly? I was waiting for the game, then a sale on psn enticed me to buy Mega Man Legacy collection, so i beat MM2 (MM1 is really difficult), and after that, i got my fix of mega man, and mighty no9 no longer interests me, partially because it looks average, and because Inafune is responsible for the atrocity named Yaiba Ninja Gaiden. Shame that it disappointed those who were waiting for it.

stratogustav If you like speed run-ish platformers, i recommend Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day. Its a hybrid of a game, and 4 other animated movies. Its a collaborative effort of animation and video game's industries most talented figures. I'm not sure if it came out in america, but its worth checking out. iirc i wrote something about it in the old forums, basically its a surreal experience.

fsfsxii If you Platinum Yaiba I will personally send you a Fatal Fury hat on my behalf similar to this one Blue Mary is wearing: By the way thanks for the game recommendation, I'll look it up.

I'm liking all the hate because my expectations are getting lowered. That's always a good thing. Yep that's true. Makes you look for the goods in the game rather than the bad - the opposite of an immaculately reviewed game. I'm of a mind with Happy Console Gamer. Inafune was just spread too thin with other commitments to devote full attention and all his talents into it. ReCore, Red Ash, even Yaiba for a time during M9's development cycle. Always a bad idea to think you can doo many things and expect excel at all of them... Makes me worried for ReCore now, even if I don't have an X1 to play it with (yet)...

Yep that's true. Makes you look for the goods in the game rather than the bad - the opposite of an immaculately reviewed game. If that's true the opposite can also happen, which it was exactly the case for Mighty No. 9. Not only they had that going because it was Inafune, on top of that, they also had the wrong expectations. From what I hear, it looks like everyone was waiting for a Mega Man 11, not a Mega Man X9, so that also affected a lot the results. The Xbox One Slim sounds like a good deal to me. I'm not sure if I'll get it. I'm running out of shelve's space, but it would be cool to play ReCore and Scalebound, both games coming with developers with overloads, yet they interest me more than other things I've seen out there.

I didn't think it looked good or interesting to begin with, I like the Mega Man series overall but I never really wanted more new games like Mega Man 9 and 10 or Mega Man X7 and X8, I would've been infinitely much happier if they just made the rest of the planned Maverick Hunter X series for PSP instead. Anyway, today I tried the demo of Mighty No 9 from Xbox Live and it confirmed my suspicions that it sucked pretty bad, even the two latest Mega Man X games on PS2 outperforms it, and by a lot at that.
Sluggish controls, the shooting felt weaker than it should, annoying gameplay gimmick focused around dashing into enemies to do damage and kill them outstayed its welcome after the third time I used it, gimmick got worse on the boss where if I didn't dash after every attack it would regain the health I had shot off, this was not a gimmick I enjoyed at all, the same annoying stop of flow due to cutscenes with talking all the time that the Mega Man series has gotten a lot of flak for was present as if they had learned nothing from decades of complaints, bland level design both visually and gameplay wise, music so generic I didn't even notice it let alone remember any of it, and that was just the demo, I can't imagine how tedious the whole thing would be to play through.

Nah I honestly like the gameplay. It is fast paced and the dashing was always my favorite Mega Man X feature. I always wanted more of that.
I did like Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8 despite people disliking their art style.
What this game lacks for sure is that, art style. The levels may be not bad, but the style makes them look bad, the same goes with bosses and characters. They are not bad, but the art style is what messes with people's brains.
It is like playing a Ben 10 game and most of us are too old for that.
If the game had the same art style than Gunvolt everything would had been fine.
Also as much as he lowered the difficult level I'm sure many new gen players will find difficult a gameplay that requires a little bit of strategy.
Inti creates are known for excellence, I don't know how this even happened. My guess is that Inafune pissed them off, and my guess about the way he did it, is that he probably was forcing them to work with little financial reward.
If you are going for the cartoon style it needs to be really good like Splatoon or Jet Set Radio, otherwise forget it.

I'm beginning to think the true successor to the MegaMan legacy was Marisa Kirisame all along. Ah!... So much better.
