Thanks Imperial Khador for the clarification. I was confused there. Now I know what the VR Missions are for sure. leaon79s I haven't checked if it comes included. But it is good to know we are talking about Metal Gear Solid because even if it isn't there I know for sure I can get that one through the PSN, so I won't be missing it. So now it should look like this: 1. Snake Eater 1964 2. Peace Walker 1974 3. Ground Zeroes the 1975 At this point I need to buy: 4. The Phantom Pain 1984 Then I keep going with: 5. Metal Gear 1995 6. Solid Snake 1999 7. Metal Gear Solid 2005 8. VR Missions 2007 9. Sons Of Liberty 2009 10. Guns Of The Patriots 2014 And then I can do: 10. Metal Gear Rising (I'm only like 5% in) 11. Bande Dessinee 12. Bande Dessinee 2 I'm doing this. No doubt in my mind. Thanks guys.

Since you're not going to be playing Portable Ops, I would at least recommend watching through the 'movie' cut of the game here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ljUp_4Crf0It is very much in the style of the motion comics, and Peace Walker uses the same style for its cut scenes.

Oh OK. Since according to leaon79s it takes place in 1970 I'll watch it as soon as I finish the first game. That's a great idea. Thank you.

Any time. If you have some time, feel free to post thoughts as you play/finish each game

Both Metal Gear Solid and VR Missions are codes to download from PSN. Neither are included on disc in the Legacy Collection. So hopefully they are still valid. Although either way, MGS isn't expensive.
I'm of the opinion that if playing all the games I would do it in release order but either way works really. No matter what order you play the games in you'll be confused at times.

I would just skip VR Missions though, since it doesn't add anything new to the story (what I did). The Twin Snakes is a much better investment. If you manage to stick with your list long enough to make it that far (#7), you may find that Metal Gear Solid 1 was just so kewl ( and Meryl was just so hawt) that you just got to see how it looks like remade with 6th Gen high speed graphics in the Twin Snakes. Once you're done with all the Metal Gears, the next logical franchise to move on to is Deus Ex. This is recommended because Deus Ex shares alot of commonality with Metal Gear: - The stealth focussed gameplay
- The conspiracy laden world setting
- The prevalence of Private Military groups
- The role of cybernetics as a central part of human evolution...
Deus Ex just flows very naturally from Metal Gear - almost as if it were a ligitimate continuation. Hell, the radar system is virtually identical, and the enemies all even wear the familiar head masks... Furthermore Deus Ex: Human Revolution (chronologically the first game in the franchise) takes place in 2027 - 9 Years after Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (2018). Coincidentally it's Deus Ex fever time since 2015 is the 15th anniversary, and Mankind Divided is coming out 8/23... Metal Gear 30th anniversary is also coming up next year btw. Fortuitous?...

Yup code does not work. However I checked and I can get both PS1 games for 16 bucks, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid VR Missions. I also did find out I already own the VR Missions for Metal Gear Rising. Which is something I'll definitely do when I get there. About Deus Ex, my brother loves Metal Gear and even Assassin's Creed, yet he dislikes Deus Ex. I haven't tried but we had a long conversation about this, and considering I know a bit of stealth from Batman, it sounds like I may not like the game either. But I can't honestly say anything until I try it myself.

That sucks about the code... But don't be hasty and purchase it immediately off PSN. Just play Snake Eater up until Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (#6 on your list) first - That will keep you busy for a while, as Peace Walker & Phantom Pain can reach 50-100 hrs each. Most other Metal Gears are 10-15 hrs max, the exception being Ground Zeroes and the 2D Metal Gears which can be done in less than 5. Hopefully during your play interim there might be some kind of sale down the line that you can take advantage of for MGS1. If not, there's always Twin Snakes! I know, I keep saying it, but it really is a prettier version of MGS1. The voice acting is not as good... but it conforms to MGS2 & 4 better than the original.

It's going to be insane, but I'll finish it. I already started. I did fall sleep as soon as I got my backback from the tree after I jumped from the plane. But I can already tell I will enjoy this adventure.

I always wondered which Metal Gear is the best. They are all highly praised so it is very hard to know which one is the real winner.
