Looks like Mark has launched a new Kickstarter.
I'll back for this one. I enjoyed season 1.

Oh man, CGR 2085 was an amazing project, Mark definitely put all his effort on it! Sadly, with the current exchange rates for my country's currency, I can't back this season. But I'm certainly looking forward to buy/watch it in the future, I hope the Kickstarter does well.

But I'm certainly looking forward to buy/watch it in the future, I hope the Kickstarter does well. I do hope Mark offers the option to purchase the season (digitally or as Blu-ray) for folks in your situation in future. I ended up backing at the $50 US level for a digital copy of CGR. I've eased way back on collecting physical media, and shipping prices from the US are pretty terrible even to Canada, so I couldn't justify backing high enough for a Bluray set. You might want to consider tossing in $1 at the 'pledge without support' tip jar level. It's a weird thing with crowd-funding, but people seem to back projects that look successful, so the more backer numbers the better, even if some of them are just 'emotional' support. I've done that with a few friends' Kickstarters where I wanted to support them, but wasn't particularly interested in what they were producing. And we can always get the word out. Make any other CGR fans that you know aware of it. I posted here, and told the one meatspace friend I know who's into CGR...so job done for ImpK.

Wow, I felt like this came out of nowhere. Mark going back to making CGR again? I thought I'd never see the day. He's asking a bit much for the campaign, but I'm really interested to see where it's going, and I'm probably going to back this at some level.

I was just about to post this. Are we keen? Cervantes Postage is a bitch here in Australia too. This is why we still have shopping centres/malls.

centipede and Balder - In my case, the problem is not shipping, because I would go digital. The current tier for a digital download of the season is US$ 50, but when you convert to my country's currency it becomes R$ 246 (right now, US$ 1 is R$ 4.93), besides taxes for international transactions, so it's more expensive than I can justify it for now. I'm still thinking about it, though... When I backed previous projects and the Patreon, that conversion was around 1->3. Luckily, since the new government took office, the local currency is quickly recovering its value - in December, that conversion was US$ 1->5.28, so it's already better. By the time Mark releases the season it won't be so expensive, I hope.

Mark is now restructuring the Kickstarter by cancelling it and only making one season at a time, which I think is a horrible idea. He's losing all momentum and while the original idea probably was not going to go forward as the goal was out of reach, making one season at a time will probably lose out all of the international buyers as shipping cost is going to be enormous for so many seasons.

Balder - It seems like the original pitch might not have made it through, though, which would make even harder to try it a second time. Maybe the idea of having a longer filming schedule and breaking it in segments for the Kickstarter (maybe now he'll first kickstart the 2023 episodes, and then later do the 2024 ones?) might work, as it will need a smaller initial budget and, in turn, have cheaper tiers for backers. I would back a $25 tier, since I wasn't going for the $50 one. But the momentum is surely a thing and the project might've lost a bit of it, though I hope not.

Mark is now restructuring the Kickstarter by cancelling it and only making one season at a time, which I think is a horrible idea. It originally was an all or nothing goal for $85,000 with a cut off date in early June. Since he was only at around 15% of his goal, I think it needed a restructuring. I see your point of view, though. It is a shame he can't get a distributer in different regions to make the physical media cheaper.

Maybe I'll just pick them up if they ever go on sale as a bundle.

Sort of.
What's he'd mentioned is that he'd try a smaller kickstarter for just BluRay production of Season 1 of CGR 2085, which was the one done a few years ago, and came out on Amazon. It never had a physical release. He'd mentioned it was a mistake to try and include the Season 1 Blueray production, as well as the glassware he was offering, in with Season 2 production.
Also, I hear a lot more about boardgame kickstarters, just due to where a lot of my interest is...but I know with those, if you don't secure most of your funding in the first couple of days, you're not likely to get what you need by the end of 30. I know some of the CGR Kickstarters were down to the wire, but it felt like this didn't have the momentum.
I'm not even 100% sure how Mark was marketing it. I got the notification because I'd backed the previous kickstarters from CGR. One of the other folks in the comments had mentioned it being part of the CGR mailing list, but that's still a small subset of viewers. Mark had also mentioned CGR instagram and tiktok shorts are doing well but I'm not seeing it mentione there either, unless Mark deleted anything following the cancellation. Same with the old CGR Youtube channel. He's mentioned he's rethinking the marketing, so that founds I good idea.
What he's mentioned (more slowly producing Season 2 for release in 2024 at the show's 25th anniversary), and launching a kickstarter for that later...seems like a better idea. They way he'd described the original plan, the Kickstarter seemed to be intended to cover dropping everything else for 6 months and focusing on that (or nearly so). Producing at a more leisurely pace when he has time sounds like the better route.
He'd mentioned building a new set because the publishing business had recently moved into the old warehouse space they rented for CGR back in its heyday. Hopefully we'll get to see the new set at some point.

CGR 2085 season 1 did have a physical release on those Genesis clamshell with USB sticks. Just not on Blu-ray.
