This movie was on tv when I was a little lad and I got absolutely terrified. Then I watched it again a few years ago and got even more. Cannon tried something completely new with this one, so here we have a horror ninja movie inspired by The Exorcist. Lucinda Dickey gets her rocking body possessed by an evil ninja spirit in search for revenge - of course she is the chosen one because of her previous experience with the deadly arts (she is an aerobics instructor). In that same year Lucinda would also be in Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, so she was definitely on a path to reach the stars within Cannon. The movie certainly leans more heavily on very bizarre horror scenes, especially the exorcism at the end, and nudity, as Lucinda's very first kill is already in a bathtub. There are a few good action scenes, but they are sparse (Revenge of the Ninja is better in that regard) and Sho Kosugi comes back in a smaller role, but still puts up some great fights. Also, I think the scene in the golf course posted by centipede might be the inspiration for Ninja Golf. It is my least favorite of the trilogy, but Lucinda makes up for it. Man, I might end up watching it again this week. I'm also waiting for the obligatory appreciation post by cobretti and Balder saying he has the dvd but watched some french crap with no ninjas instead.

I'll watch this some day, but I had to get through Lars von Trier's The Five Obstructions first.

I'll watch this some day, but I had to get through Lars von Trier's The Five Obstructions first. See? Replace "french" with "danish" and, unless I missed a hidden ninja in The House that Jack Built or Antichrist, Balder is watching Trier's ninjaless films again. Unless Dancer in the Dark was supposed to be an adaptation of Shadow Dancer.
