Apparently Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is going to use an AI to moderate your speech while playing the game in real time. I've hated listening to tweens pretending to be bad asses for a decade now, so I get why people want to crack down on the crap spewed from the mouths of smooth brained idiots. I haven't used voice chat with players in more than a decade because of that.
However, I hate the idea of AI of moderating speech. Who actually can trust Activision? David Crane left the company eons ago. Their record of actually caring about the customer has been abysmal as of late. Isn't this game supposed to be played by people over 18? If so, then what if people want to use language which is generally considered "foul?" If it is a private room, then shouldn't it be OK to say what you want?
I don't know how I feel about this, because my feelings are mixed. I haven't played 1st person shooters in ages, because I just couldn't really stand the level of immaturity online. I wonder if this will affect the sales of the game? I know it will definitely hurt their presence in the stream-o-sphere.
