Apparently Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is going to use an AI to moderate your speech while playing the game in real time. I've hated listening to tweens pretending to be bad asses for a decade now, so I get why people want to crack down on the crap spewed from the mouths of smooth brained idiots. I haven't used voice chat with players in more than a decade because of that. However, I hate the idea of AI of moderating speech. Who actually can trust Activision? David Crane left the company eons ago. Their record of actually caring about the customer has been abysmal as of late. Isn't this game supposed to be played by people over 18? If so, then what if people want to use language which is generally considered "foul?" If it is a private room, then shouldn't it be OK to say what you want? I don't know how I feel about this, because my feelings are mixed. I haven't played 1st person shooters in ages, because I just couldn't really stand the level of immaturity online. I wonder if this will affect the sales of the game? I know it will definitely hurt their presence in the stream-o-sphere. Link: CoD to introduce AI voice moderation

Yep! Beaurocrats gonna beaurocrat.
The usual answer is: don't liek it? Just turn it off. And I've never been in a clan that was organised, therefore needed the voice chat to co-ordinate.
So, I guess the only way to bypass it is to use some other service, like Teamspeak or Skype. Or better still, game in the same room!
Or else, speak in codes and riddles.

Thing is with the corporations, they have a tendency to self-censor over time, trying to make themselves as universally accessible and appealing as possible. A bit like corporate music. And also the corporate art style, which is so simple and so inclusive that they don't include anyone at all. Both are cheap, quick and inoffensive. Maybe it's why characters like Segata Sanshiro and Wilkins the muppet are so entertaining: they are so edgy!

Or better still, game in the same room! Or else, speak in codes and riddles. I still play couch co-op with my family. You really can't match the fun while playing online. By the way, I love the corporate music video. ComEd in Chicago recently had a commercial like that, and I couldn't help but laugh. They're so damn corrupt, it's ridiculous around here, yet the commercial could have been used for a motivational speech for a Rocky movie.

Maybe it's why characters like Segata Sanshiro and Wilkins the muppet are so entertaining: they are so edgy! Right on. Sega created a well defined character that would beat the shit out of kids not playing their Saturn, talk about a company having a personality. It was a breath of fresh air.

Anyone doing censoring are always the bad guys. Throughout history anyone censoring anything are always the villains. When anyone wants to censor anything you know they are the ones on the wrong side of things.
