A movie about being loyal to your family. It lacks more Jason, though.
I also keep thinking what would happen if mother Voorhees adopted Norman Bates.

We're actually doing a marathon of all of the Friday the 13th movies this year. We've watched the first six movies and will watch the rest today and tomorrow. The 4th and 6th movies slaps hard, while the 3rd and 5th movies were terrible. Here's my review of the first movie:
The first Friday the 13th is quite iconic, however, not in the way most people would have thought. There is no hockey mask, no machete and most importantly no Jason (at least in the form he is known for). While The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween pioneered the slasher genre, Friday the 13th became arguably the bigger iconic of the three despite having no particularly great films in its franchise. It has the iconic "ki, ki, ki, ma, ma, ma" chant, the more iconic slasher location of a camp in the woods and lots of POV shots. There are some great kills in here as well, with the spear through the bed and neck being easily the best one. I wish the film was executed a little bit better in terms of characters and story. The fact that Jason's mom is introduced so late and there being essentially no build up on the urban story about Jason, was a little bit underwhelming from what it could have been. The ending is one of the greatest endings in all of horror films if it just ended on that boat scene, but of course, the filmmakers undermined it with adding a dumb scene after it. Pretty good, but a far cry from the masterpieces of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween. 3.5/5

Jason rules… It such a shame there haven't been a Friday the 13th film since the 2009 remake. There were almost a sequel got every year in the 80's and no there hasn't been a single entry for almost 15 years. What a shame.

You actually inspired me yesterday. I knew I was going to watch some Jason movies last night but your previous post convinced me to watch Jason Parts IV and VI.

It offers the what the series is all about, exploitation of violence and pre-martial sex.

I'm one of those people who thought the series went better with every new instalment. The first movie for me was a little too low budget and kind of boring to todays standards. The first one is probably my least favourite in the series minus the Jason jumping put of the lake scene which was awesome.

With IV and VI yes, but the rest aside from the first one are mostly terrible, with Jason Goes to Hell being fucking terrible.

Got better as in the series didn't even gain its identity till about part 3 anyway. First two are barely Jason movies and imo don't hold up that well anyway. Part 3 is also boring and kinda fell victim to the 3D that was going on at the time. I personally think Part 4 and 6 are the best in the series followed closely by 7. Jason X and Freddy Vs Jason are also pretty good.
