Agreed about the nudity making Nolan's films go to the next level with this one. The problem with being a Christopher Nolan fan is that at this point everyone knows him, everyone knows he is a genius, just like Dennis Villanueve, and it is no longer fun to say you are a fan because it is like whatever. I actually teared up at the end of the film, and I thought it was pretty fantastic, but that's expected from any Nolan film at this point. It seems the majority of the budget went into the cast which is obviously stellar, but for some reason it did felt like something important to have the film communicate the message. After all, these are the actions of the greatest generation while the silent people were born. That said, it is also important to mention that some of the actors here, including Murphy, are the stars they are because of Nolan himself, so one can say it just happened this way. The film has a strong message. Of course it was going to win Oscars. It shows the impact the scientific J.J. community had into making all this happen. And leaves open that question of whether something is good of bad. It seems that for the J.J. community is neither. Kind of like the old Shakespeare saying: "Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so". I believe it describes perfectly the morality of the J.J. community in anything they do, and how all of us peasants, or gentiles whatever, deal with that. Knowing they were going to throw a nuke from a guy that doesn't do CGI made me excited, but at least the IMAX size theater I went to needed bigger subs for that. It still worked considering the delay. The silent explosion at the distance followed by the sound that hits your seat slower than light was definitely a nice touch.
